Most atheists would say this is morally wrong but historically christians seem to have been strongly in favour of this kind of thing, just wondering really?

I know that 'religious' zealots have killed many people in the name of 'religion'.... but I don't think killing in the name of Jesus is something we are asked to even consider...

while some people 'claim' that they are killing out of justice in the name of Jesus.... they really don't have a clue about what Jesus really was all about.

I think it is morally wrong to kill 1 person... let alone thousands....

[ "Show me the command to Christians to "kill thousands" in the Bible] the references to killing given from Joshua or any of the old testament books were to the Jews... not to the Christians... as Christ was not born yet then, so there were no Christ followers... meaning no Christians anywhere before Jesus came to live among us. so please, remember.... old testament=jewish law... new testament=Christians/Jesus followers

"Show me the command to Christians to "kill thousands" in the Bible."

Joshua 6:2 Then the LORD said to Joshua, "See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men.

Joshua 6:24 Then they burned the whole city and everything in it, but they put the silver and gold and the articles of bronze and iron into the treasury of the LORD's house.

God has commanded the killing of thousands before.

Yep, historically we don't have a great record. But then nor do atheists. The problem is not that Christians are Christians - the problem is that Christians are fallible human beings. But we'd do well to remember that sometimes.

Please do not label these cruel and evil people as Christians. Just because they claim to be and say that all they did was in the name of God does not mean that it was so. Mankind always tries to tell you that God wants them to do something when it is really their own agenda that needs verification.

You can know what is from God if it represents what he has said. He said: Thou shalt not murder. To take a life without it being in self defense is wrong. It is murder.....regardless of who you have killed....even if he was a murderer of someone else. Obviously, you can see that amongst other things, I am against capital punishment. That idea is from man's own bag of tricks.

I think it's wrong to kill people for any reason. Christ brought a new law, i guess you would call it, in which he says that it's bad to kill, i live by that and think all wars are wrong, and shouldn't be. Before Christ came to earth, Israel fought in a lot of wars in the name of God, but know I don't think it's right.

Gee, I haven't even killed one person. I guess I'm a slacker, huh?
"Thou shalt not kill" is a commandment I- and most other Christians- take very literally.

So hungry..(give me a cookie?)

Anyway, the important thing is that Christians don't believe that God is an imaginary friend, so they believe that they are killing for something worthwhile.

*sigh*

Please dont put all Christians in a box.

No, I believe it is wrong, and although it may have been done in "the name of Christ," The people doing it were not truly Christians.

I dont believe all muslims bomb building and crash planes, although it has happened... so dont think Christians are all like that either.

Do you think it is o.k. to dwell on the mistakes of the past? Or would it be better to try and correct those mistakes and help others? Just wondering.
