I want to paint my house's interior with different color for different room but I also think about further down the road if I want to sell my house. I want to paint some room with darker color that match my taste. If in the future I decide to sell my house and to appeal to more people, I have to repaint them to a neutral color, would that color come out OK over the old darker paint? For example, a very light beige over chocolate brown?

You will have to use a primer. Or else your very light beige will not come out as a very light beige and it will take many coats to do so. where as primer is much more expensive than paint with color in it.

It would work great if you a coat of primer over the chocolate and then painted your color.

I am a paint addict, my walls have gone from bright red to taupe and back again. I my suggestion is to use a primer when covering bright colors, you save money in the long run, and do not have to use as many coats.

good luck

I agree with the primer idea. Don't let the paint cans fool you if it says one coat it probably isn't, regardless of what colour you put it over.

Ceiling first. a actual time saver with portray is this fantastic side device that has wheels. particularly of SLOWLY doing the perimeters on the baseboard and the place the wall and ceiling meet you employ this side device and run it alongside the wall, you get a suited line devoid of having paint on aspects you dont want. be beneficial to "cut back in" the corners with a paint brush first then paint along with your curler.

You would almost have to use primer first over the dark color and then switch to the light. it's guaranteed to cover then.

it certainly wouldn't cover in 1 coat but it will cover. it may take 2 or 3 coats but it will cover.
