How about a soft cream? It'll contrast nicely with the black and make it stand out. Also, black takes light from the room and makes it look smaller. You don't want a darkish color on the walls, too, because your room will look smaller than it actually is. Use bold color for accents - like throw cushions, lamps, rugs, wall hangings, etc. - so the room doesn't look so stark and cold.

We have a studio apartment with similar tastes in black lounges with dark furnishings. The floor is polished concrete with Mexican hand made Mosaic tiles, mostly strawberry red with subtle yellow/orange splashes. Having plenty of walls exposed in a common area, any earth sandstone colour will do, we settled on a Haymans peach using a gradient effect, creating a lighter warmer atmosphere. Works for us, good luck mate!

White Red and Black look very clean and stylish. depending on the shape of the room, smaller walls could be painted red, the larger spaces kept white because an all red room would make it look creepy and smaller. If you kept the walls white and filled the room with red acceseries (picture frames, table cloths costers) it would also look good, angular things would work better then rounded things.

Deeper red than the tiles,.....Burgandy,..or deep green.....rock star style. You can have expensive tapestries & Persain rugs to hang on the ways too,....very cool!

Hang Rock Star posters on the walls,.....all you need to do is add a pool table and bar fridge.
