Give blood?

I turned 17 two weeks ago, so I am allowed to participate in my school's annual blood drive. Thing is, it's scheduled on the same day that the school musical is and I have a decent part (I'm a Pickalittle lady in the Music Man) so I don't know if giving blood is the best idea. I also have AB- blood, which is quite rare and I know that if I ever needed blood, I'd wanna know that the hospital has it and not 'the next best thing.' Help?

When you do decide to give blood for the first time, or any time, make sure you eat a good, not heavy, meal before. I didn't and ended up passing out. After all that they wouldn't let me finish and was all for nothing.

Since this is your first time donating blood there is a higher chance of a reaction. Usually though even if you do have a reaction to donating blood the effects of it usually only linger for about an hour or so. I guess my question is, is the part that you have in the play involve strenuous exercising on your part or not. If it does then you will want to wait to donate. However if its just doing regular activities you would do any other day then it will not have a great effect on you. I donate every 2 weeks platelets and whole blood every 2 months and feel fine within 20 minutes after donating. Also remember there are donor centers that you can go to that are open almost every day.

If your role involves a lot of dancing of other strenuous activityI would suggest you don't give blood. Since your blood is AB- only people with AB- and AB+ can receive your blood so I wouldn't be concern if the hospital needed it or not.

I don't know what Sinapores Laws Are but in America you must be 18 to to donate blood
