You need two 2-way switches and an intermediate. If you go to B+Q they usually have these in stock along with a leaflet that tells you how to install. Part P of the building regs allows anyone to modify existing circuits but not to introduce new ones. All work must conform to the current version of the wiring regulations published by The Institution of Electrical engineers ( BS 7671).

First of all you need to source a 2 Pole/2 Way 10A switch (bit specialist - try an electrical trade specialist). At a pinch you could make one by using a double, single pole 2Way switch with the rockers very close together and then carefully glueing the rockers together or glueing a piece of plastic acrossthe rockers so that the two switches operate simultaneously.

We will call this switch #2 and it will have 6 terminals - (C1, L11, L12), the first pole, and (C2, L21,L22), the second pole.

You also need two single pole two way switches (bog standard) which each have three terminals (C, L1,L2). These are switches #1 and #3.

Connect as follows -

Switch#1: connect your live lighting feed to C. Connect L1 to L11 of switch#2. Connect L2 to L12 of switch#2.

Switch#2: As well as the connections from switch#1: connect L12 and L21 together then connect L11 and L22 together. Connect C1 to L1 of switch#3. Connect C2 to L2 of switch#3.

Switch#3: With L1 and L2 connected as above, connect C to one side of your light(s).

Light(s): Connect the other side of your light to the lighting main neutral (or return).

Ensure metal light fittings and metal wall boxes/switches are earthed! The circuit shoud have 5A fuse/breaker.
