It's not really good or bad, what it is, is her life and her decision. Give her your support.

It all depends on what specialty she will be doing. My sister is an Army nurse so she stays very safe most of the time, even when over in Iraq. But my cousin was with a delivery convoy over in Iraq and was around a lot more fighting and danger. Find out what her job is in the army. Hope she stays safe!

Find out your sister's address and send her a letter of support. She would be happy to hear from you. Depending where she is, she could be involved in the fighting even though they do not involve the women directly in the fighting. She might be in a situation where they get attacked and have to defend themselves. A lot of it depends upon what her job is. Your sister is doing an honarable thing and should be supported. Having served in Vietnam I can assure that any letters you would write would be greatly welcomed. Good luck and prayers for your sister.

well it depends on what her job is. i am a 22 year army Sargent and when i was over in Iraq we had woman with us. we were on the front-lines doing road patrols. i would like to reassure you that your sister will not be in danger but the truth is Iraq is dangerous. even those that you think would not be in danger are. morters,I.E.D's,suicide bombers all of these take a toll on our forces. some times people are just in the wrong place at the wrong time. i went thru Iraq and had several close calls. my name could have easily been on the list of the dead. matter fact a Sargent with a similar name was killed by a missile strike and for weeks all i heard was "WHAT YOUR not dead?" relax even if your sister is over in Iraq there is no use in worrying. your sister could come home just fine.

MOS = Military Occupational Speciality.
Where do you people who obviously know nothing about the military get off answering these questions?
She may fight...she may get shot at. Even combat support and combat service support are fighting over there. She may not go at all...it really depends on where she gets stationed after her training. She made a good choice...pray for her and hope that this ends soon.

It all depends on what her job is. I can tell you from 9 years and still counting in the army the possibility is always thetre if she were to get deployed over to Iraq. However that being said its always a crap shoot you never know what your tour will hold for you. You hope for the best train for the worst. Best of luck to you and your sister.

That depends on her MOS --military occupational specialty--. You should know that any soldier actually has a chance of being shot at, whether they're infantry or cooks, they're all soldiers and we are at war. Obviously some jobs are more dangerous than others. Why don't you call her or her mom and find out?
