If for some reason they wanted to, could The United States overthrow the world? Not saying there is a reason, I just wonder if any country could be any real opposition. I think a few countries could get in the way, but eventually we would win. (i.e. China, Israel, Russia). If not the world, which countries could the US not beat in a 1 on 1? (I know 1 on 1's never happen.)

When I say overthrow, I mean like, kill everyone and take their land; not like Iraq where we're "fixing" it. Also, I'm not supporting this idea, just wondering.

Here is prolly your best answer:
Wether you Anti-American fanatics out there want to believe this or not.. it is simply the truth. The United States of America along with it's 1million + army, millions of planes, tanks, ships, cannons, etc, along with the best technology, training, and a few thousand nuclear bombs could defeat any country in the world in a one on one fight to the death battle if politics were to be thrown out the window. Everyone says we are "loosing" the Iraq war, well people this may be news to you but we WON the war a few years ago.. the war is OVER, we are simply allowing the Iraqi's to recooperate from Saddam without being over thrown by a military dictator, or going into civil war. Also you people who beleive we lost Vietnam war... We lost 50,000 troops, they lost over 4 million people, and thousands of acres of land due to napalms, bombs, etc... Yes we pulled out without accomplishing any major objectives but we never once lost a battle in Vietnam, so how could we loose the war? Anyway... enough of this back to the main ?... The United States has the strongest military, and best backed up military in the world. If you were to throw politics, rules of engagement, and nuclear peace treaties out the window I would bet my life that the United States would win a war with anyone in the world hands down. Russia and China are huge countries, and have big populations.. everyone thinks this makes them more powerful then the United States, when in reality 90% of Russia and China are just peasants, and poor villages. You Nuclear bomb Moscow, or Hong Kong and they dont have any more major cities pretty much... hell you drop a few nuclear bombs in china / russia the radiation will kill off the rest of the countries since they are connected... Isreal is the size of Delaware, not even... you nuclear bomb then once or twice and their whole entire country becomes 1 big crater.. so there's 3 of the strongest countries in the world gone.. North Korea? You kill their dictator and then the country is clueless what to do because he makes all their decisions... also they are a penninsula so our navy, and airforce would rape them from all directions .. aslo with my nuclear theory a few nukes would top them off just as well.. If the United States really wanted to they could completely kill all life on earth from nuclear radiation, and put the entire world into Nuclear Winter for a good few centuries...
To sum it all up...
Yes the United States could overthrow the world, and could defeat any country on the earth in a 1 on 1 battle to the finish. Infact I personally beleive the US could defeat a few countries at once. Eventually the United States will decline and corruption will set in (government problems will cause this) and then some other country will take the king of the hill, but dont expect this any time soon. If you disagree with me my AIM name is Jurgill08, and feel free to tell me your thoughts of why im wrong. No country in the world could handle the United States air force, army , and their technology in an all out battle simply put. If you think differently just ask japan how 2 nuclear bombs feel... they killed over 200,000 people within the first few seconds, and people are still dieng due to radiation.. you do the math that's a good 60 years later, so i could imagine casulties would be well over a million due to the nuclear bombs.. and that was just 2 from the 1940's we now have hydrogen bombs, and 10x's stronger nuclear bombs... so go ahead and try and say different because the truth is what I said wether you want to beleive it or not...

300 million people in the US versus 5.5 (roughly) billion people in the rest of the world. I'd say we don't have much of a chance without nuclear weapons. If we use nukes then the whole world is screwed anyway. We could overthrow a lot of the world, but no way could we keep it under control. Look at Iraq. As far as one on one, Russia and China are too big and China has too many people for us to effectively overthrow and then actually maintain control.

In the 'rape, pillage and dominate' sense, I believe it would be possible...with the right leadership. I don't think the US currently has the political will to elect that sort of leadership (not that that's a bad thing), but I think it could be done. All it takes is a new Hitler, Napoleon, Atilla, the vikings, Hannibal, Caesar, Alexander, Xerxes, e.g. and the will of the people to support him (I say him because I really don't think many women would go this route).
Adopting such leadership would make kicking any country 1 on 1 a piece of cake--the world would be a greater task, but not unodable (world domination is a lot easier when you take morality and humane treatment of captured populations out of the equation).
I'm not saying it's likely. Just possible.

Chris, do you still think that the USA won the Iraq war? Just like the way the USA won the Vietnam War?
Military power comprises two elements. Military might and political will. The USA may have the military might, but when put to the test the USA lacks the political will. That is why it is losing in Iraq and Afghanistan. That and the fact that these were unwinnable wars in the first place.
Putin's Russia won the fight over Crimea because it, like Nazi Germany over Sudetenland in 1938, had the political will. Obama is left as the Neville Chamberlain to Putin's Adolf Hitler.

WE ALREADY HAVE!...with our language (English) being THE
interrnational language. All countries,( except maybe N Korea) require English as a mandatory subject because of the wordly and dominate country we are. Our culture is copied everywhere and mesmerized entire generations with our movies, music, fashion, TV programs being watched by all.citizens of the world. Social media is dominated by the US which widens our culture to remote villages. The US is the financial center of the world.. The dollar is the premerier currency. Our freedom of speech and democratic ideals are copied (or wanted to) everywhere..
We have "overthrown" the world and it is a better place for it.

There wouldn't be much of a world left. If the U.S. attempted such a thing, other countries would get their licks in, nuclear that is, and the whole world would be a looser. Ever heard of MAD (Mutual Assured Destruction)?

"overthrow the world" to what purpose? Global dictatorship under Uncle Sam?
any aggressive actions by the US would probably involve nuclear detonations over major cities, the destruction of communications infrastructures, and would require ground invasions and huge armies to pacify citizens.
besides, it's 300 million US vs. 6.3 billion everyone else. numbers say hell no..

maybe if we had the technology or better weapons. actually yeah we can by using the nuclear bomb...but there was something signed for it. the only country i think america could have the hardest time defeating is Japan because they are advanced technology wise but we have weapons that may be able to defeat them....at least i hope america does not intend to do that....that would be against what all americans believe in

No. We don't want to and we won't even try.
The US will never end any military conflict favorably as long as politicians think they know better than to forces on the ground.
