I went to the orthodontist yesterday, and I have to get braces on all of my teeth. I'm wondering if it will hurt at all for the 2 years that I have to wear them. If it does hurt, please explain what hurts, and how to get rid of the pain! Also explain foods that I can't eat, thanks!

Oh, and how long does it take? Should I take like a CD player or something?

it doesnt hurt too much when going through the process of putting on the braces, but there will be pain afterwards, more like a throbbing pain, nothing serious, im sure you and anyone can take this type of pain, once oyu get adapted to the braces, they will only hurt somewhat when you get them tightened once in awhile. But its only 2 years, its worth it at the end.

Yes they hurt. The first week is pretty bad. But after that it only hurts when you go get them tightened. And it hurts about 2-5 days after each visit. It's a throbbing pain that gives you a head ache. Plus you can't bite down on anything. You are looking at eating soup, and really really soft foods for a few days. How long does it take? Probably an hour or so, I forget it's been a long time since I had braces.

Yes they do hurt. How much they hurt really depends on the orthodontist. I would suggest having something soft and cold like ice cream, frozen yogurt, sorbet etc. around the house at all time. The coldness really numbs the pain a lot. OTCs like Tylenol or Advil also work but I only took them as a last resort.
Food you can't eat are hard and sticky foods like caramel, gum, nuts etc.

Of course it hurts. Beauty hurts! :) It hurts to get them tightened, it also hurts when you first get them on - the metal scrapes all the skin off your mouth and I couldn't even talk for three days. I would take a cd player definitely or something like that. They are a pain in the butt but it pays off.

i had braces for almost 2 years.
they mostly hurt for a few days after getting them on and getting them tightened once a month. i would suggest eating soul, jello, pudding, and ice cream!
i don't really know how to describe how they hurt...it's like a dull acke for most of the time, and when you eat it's a shape pain, if they're really bad they feel like a needle is going into your mouth!
i didn't have alot of trouble eating things, you just have to keep them away from your brackets. and you have to brush RIGHT AFTER you eat they foods you can't. my orthodontist gave me a list of the things i couldn't eat, they should do that for you too, i'm pretty sure.
it didn't take long for them to put mine on, they clean your teeth, then pain on this glue that smells really REALLY bad. then they set your brackets and then shine a blue light one then so the glue sets.

It would hurt a little (just a little). You will also need to get used to having it on especially when having your foods. Once you're used to it, you may not even feel that you're wearing on.
