I'm making fleece blankets that you tie off for the babies. What are suggestions for the 4 yr old? A toy, stuffed animal, etc. that is something a 4yr old boy would really want after just losing everything?

Everyone got out ok but with only the clothes on their backs. All is a total loss.

Harleygirl, thanks so much! Leave it to a biker chick with a big heart, as usual! From one biker chick to another. I'm in CO, not sure where you are?

a hug.

As for material things, I'd suggest a soft, huggable bear. www.buildabear.com.

Slightly off topic, I have boxes of boy's baby clothes, and would be willing to ship reasonable distances.

My family was burned out on Christmas Eve the year I was five... I remember all too well how horrific it was. My heart goes out to the family involved.

Do a drive at work or school what ever it is you do to get the family clothing and food. Or open an account that the parents can pull money for and have people donate to it.

As for as something to hold onto, I think build a bear would be great, even get a gift certificate for the child.

My mother in law lost her home to a fire about six years ago, we did a drive to help her. When the house was rebuilt we had a fire shower so and the church replaced what they could.

First, he needs someone to constantly remind him that he will be okay and that many many people still love him and always will. Next, get him talking about the fire and how or if it scared him or what he thought, etc. Once you get him talking, ask him what his favorite toy was and replace it with a replica as soon as possible. Find out what he likes to do, what he's interested in and get him a toy related to his interests. (My 4-year-old nephew is CRAZY about the movie "Cars," he's got Mac Lightning toys, bubble bath, puzzles and of course, the DVD.)

Also, set up some play-dates with his friends somewhere away from home.

That's real sweet of you! I would get him some little cars or trucks. I know that's what my little grandson likes a lot. I hate to hear of anyone losing their stuff to a fire. But I thank God that they all got out ok! May God Bless You! We need more people like you in this world!

I would suggest some or automobile toy. Those seem to be the favorites of so many young boys.

yes I'm sure he wants toys and books. Presumably he somehow has the essentials such as shelter etc. so he will want these toys and books because they need things to cheer them up after this tragedy

how about you give them some clothes and money....DUH!!! A few homemade toys isn't what the poor kids need now. Go to walmart and get everyone a outfit...and a huge box of diapers
