It appears that the origin of Cruse is English. Check out the following link;

It`s probably of Latin origin, referring to the Crucifixion, but I think it`s German version....There is a football player from Germany-Axel Cruse...Don`t ask how I know that...

Your ancestors might well be of German origine. German spelling would be KRUSE.
Kruse is a surname in Germany. It has a close connection with Krause (Kruse is a kind of dialect for Krause)
Kraus means curly. So your name means the one with curly hair. I am rather sure
that this explanation is correct.

My guess would be cross, the same as Cruz (Spanish, Portoguese) & Croes (Dutch). Language ... dunno. Given the K spelling germanic or norse?
