My dog is wonderful. She puts a smile on my face even if I have had the roughest day. She is always happy and cheers me up. PS - My dog doesn't bark and I pick up after her. there have been studies that show dogs can extend your life expectancy and reduce stress.

You have a right to your opinion, but to say dogs have no useful purpose is wrong then you should say elephants don't and hedgehogs and frogs either every living creature has a purpose being on this planet as well as me and you, So I think you should stop and think about what you say before you say it. Dogs are a companion a friend someone that is there for you no matter what even if they can't talk they are a sense of someone you can count on. I'd totally be lost if I didn't have a dog to come home to every day. They make you feel good and always have a way to cheer you up when your down. Any animal can do that if its your pet. You just may not like dogs or maybe even any kind of animal but please respect others that do. And dogs can guard your home so they do have a sense of purpose oh yah and all dogs don't bark constantly. The messes in the park are the result of a irresponsible pet owner that don't clean up the mess.

they cheer you up when you are down..they provide you with entertainment....they are your loyal friend and won't hate you unless you do something really mean to them. they don't stink as much as frogs...they are like children who don't talk back....they do not mess up the park if they have a good owner who is mindful to pick up their mess...they don't necessarily live in houses....they can live in the yard...and ok you dont see people walking around with an elephant on a leash or a hedgehog for that matter they live in zoos for good reasons...also they only bark when intruders are coming and that is their duty....also have you ever heard of a guide dog or a hearing ear dog or for that matter a herding dog....they help people ...blind people wouldn't be as well off without a guide dog and deaf people wouldn't be as well without their hearing ear dog. and people who have sheep need to use dogs to get them where they need to go and dogs can do many other things...so YES dogs are important to this world and i don't see why you dislike dogs soo much...what has the dog done to you??? by the way the mess in the park is their owners fault for being irresponsible and other animals make messes in the park too like if an elephant or a hedgehog lived in the park they would and same with the frogs that live in your back yard....barking is their way of communicating ..you talk so dont judge them!

1. You get unconditional love from a dog. It's so good to come home after a bad day at work and get a doggy welcome.
2. As for messing up local parks that's down to the owner not training the dog properly. There's a saying "There's no such thing as a bad dog, just bad owners".
3. What about barking at potential intruders? Dogs can be a great deterrent.

Then you are blind. They are good companions for single , elderly or people with no kids. They are working dogs, drug sniffers, blind guides, arms and legs for those who don't have them. They are the ears of the deft. They are protectors of our young. They give us UNCONDITIONAL love. They are loyal. And can keep your secrets better than anyone. It doesn't matter your race, your size, how rich or how poor.. They will always be your friend. No judgements...They are actually more useful than some humans...........They lower blood pressure and calm you when your upset. They make our trivial little lives mean something when we take on the responsibility of them.

Abe Lincoln said " I care not for a mans life that his dog is not the better for it.." quote - unquote.

Think again..............

Anyone that keeps a dog will never be depressed because of their shiny, happy faces smiling at you when you get home and their companionship is constant and unending. Also, if they didn't live in houses, the park would really be a mess.

Humans and dogs are symbiots - meaning that we evolved together, starting about 30,000 years ago.
Without dogs to guard against wild animals we may have been killed off as we are not physically strong compared to many wild beasts, and have poor eyesight and hearing.
But with a dog's hearing and sense of smell, we were able to know if there is anything about to attack in the dark, and defend ourselves with weapons.
Dogs gained a source of regular food, which was ideal for them as they are scavengers naturally and often starved to death when food was hard to find. Humans could always get food, by growing it for example.
This was a mutually beneficial arrangement, and dogs and humans underwent slow changes in personality to enable them to live together and communicate, to the point where we even had an emotional need for each other.
Of course dogs are much less useful to us these days, but we still haven't evolved past the attachment we developed for them, and won't do for 1000s of years.
This is the fundamental reason that people keep dogs. And also why dogs keep people.

They are fun (you can play games with them), show you unconditional love, and remind you that humans are not the only things in the universe.

I was not an animal lover and I did not think consciously of animal rights until I owned my first pet.

Sorry that people are inconsiderate about the poo....don't be angry at dogs because their owners don't clean up their "business"....

Just because they make a mess and noisedoes not mean we should end pet ownership or them being in the park...we don't kill or get rid of humans because they aren't perfect...children are messy and noisy and there is no national call to stop having them we love them !....just call your municipal government about pet ordinances and report any one who doesn't clean up...

My dog is a great friend, and I swear he understands everything I say. When I'm sad or sick, he knows and lays down with me to make me feel better. He also makes for great protection. My husband is in the Army and when he's deployed for a year at a time I feel much safer knowing that our dog isn't letting anyone through the door.

Why do people keep goldfish, or house plants? It makes us happy.

You've obviously never owned and loved a dog.

They absorb all the love you can give them and give twice as much back.

If they bark and mess up the local park, that's the owner's fault, not the dog.
