I have been waiting on a w2 and have not recieved it.

Your W2 is the best place to find the employers tax ID number,but you haven't gotten it yet.
Your employer is in violation of the law.They're suppossed to get that out to you by the end of January at the latest I think.
If you work for a small company,and you have easy access to the owner he should be able to answer that question within a day.
If you work for a larger company then you may want to contact their accounting department.They should be able to answer you immediately.

Talk to anyone in accounts payable. They should also know their tax ID#.
