I'm thinking of getting a tattoo, as a tribute to my dad, who died two years ago. And the design i'm thinking of doing, is i have a picture of my dad and i hugging, and i'm thinking of having that tattooed, with Dad and then under Dad, Missed much and Loved Eternally, and his birth and death dates under that. So what do you think of that design idea? I'm not going to do this now, as i'm underage, and i want to be sure that i really want this.

Sounds like a good idea, but also sounds like a lot. I'd suggest getting a portrait of him instead with the dates under it. Just get a real artist to do it so it doesn't look bad.

Something like that with everything you mentioned may end up having to be pretty large to get good detail.. maybe find a favorite portrait of his face and frame the top and bottom with the words you'd like. Try a google image search on portrait tattoos and see how other people have arrange theirs, and decide what fashion you like best. I do best by sketching out what I'd like, keeping it around in plain view, changing and adding to it as things occur to me, and usually in this time I've come to decision on what "flows" and if I really even want it at all. Good luck =)

if the tattoo "isn't that big" then it probably won't be big enough to get any good detail in the tattoo. with portraits and things that are very intricate and deilcate it really has to be just the right size and many times it needs to be bigger than the person wants it to be. i am not a fan of words in tattoos but that's just me. go with what you feel is right. just think on it until you are old enough to get the tattoo done and be sure to go to a good tattoo artist. one who is talented at doing portraits.

I think it sounds like a great idea, something you can always look at and remember your dad. Make sure you go to a tattoo artist that specializes in portraits.

I think that is an awesome idea ... and im sorry for your lost.

Make sure you look around go to different studios and look at their work ... make sure they have pictures like that i have seen some BAD work when it comes to tattooing ppl ... i mean other stuff it looks great but when it comes to ppl work some of them are really bad ... and just a little tip it might cost extra but get them to draw it out see how you like it on paper and maybe get them to draw it on your shoulder just to see how you like it then after a couple days make the app. and go in. ( its what i did ) Make sure every little detail is right ... when it comes to this be FUSSY this is gonna be on your forever!!!

I think that's a great idea, you have pleanty of time to find a good portrait tattoo artist, it sounds beautiful, but I think you should get it on your upper arm, which is somewhere that can be shown off and that you can look at whenever you think about him.

That sounds very beautiful! I am sure that your dad would be pleased with such a remembrance. I would get it on the back of my shoulder blade. Good luck.

That's a great idea! It's probably gonna look cool and it's a memorial too!
But how big is it gonna be?
I think you shouldn't make it like REALLY big, maybe the size of your fist or bigger
=)
