An impressive feat, eh?

Gideon was told to reduce his army to 300!! and they had a battle plan that involved torches and trumpets. And they opposed a huge army.

I wasn't talking about the movie and the greeks... the story of Gideon defeating the huge army with 300 people is from the book of Judges....

the 300 I mean is the group of men Gideon led... they had no swords, but only a torch in a pot in one hand that the broke and a trumpet in the other ... it caused confusion ... the enemmy thought in the night they were surrounded by 300 companies of fighters not 300 unarmed men and fled or killed eachother

I think people are confusing your question with the recent movie "300".

Gideon's military victory was fascinating. Never underestimate the power of confusion and darkness!

This victory is quite different from the Greek/Persian battle of 430 BC. In the "300" movie, the Greeks were defending their country from an active invasion at a narrow pass. Those 300 guys held off 250,000 Persians for 3 days; the Greek equivalent of the Alamo. The 300 Isrealites attacked the multinational camp of Assyrians as they slept, and as they woke, the invaders slaughtered each other, thinking their enemy was already in the camp. Few, if any, Isrealis died in THAT battle: the Assyrians did the work for them!

If you ask a soldier you'd be surprised to find out that a small force can often defeat a larger one if they plan everything properly. A night attack designed to create confusion and panic would be very successful even today.

There is no need to be jealous If you don't have a rich history and culture. That movie is based on a fake story and only stupid people will believe that Persians are black and the king Xerxes was gay.American propaganda.

Did they defeat the army? I thought 299 of them died (Excluding the messenger who lead the 10,000).

Oh.. If it's not from the movie I don't have a clue.. Sorry. ^_^
