They want to get rid of eggs and chocolate bunnys!! explain that to millions of kids who love painting eggs, frolocking in the freshly sprouted tulips waiting to get their small angelic hands on a delicate, newly pastel painted egg. Small wicker baskets firmly clutched in each hand as they hunt down with great excitement and pride in finding the sweet treats we hide inside.

well, I'm sure that when it is explained to the children that eggs and chocolate bunnies have nothing to do with the resurrection of Jesus, and that these things were part of a pagan celebration that God and Jesus would have not had any part of, some of them will willingly stop because they would not want to do anything God and Jesus would not like. As for the children who would still want to have the eggs and bunnies, remember, it's not what the children want that should guide a parents decisions, but what is best for them.

Enh.
It wouldn't bother me. But then, I'm a heathen and the rabbits and eggs are a traditional part of the original festival my ancestors celebrated at this time. It wouldn't bother me to see the Christians give up this bit of the tradition they adapted in order to convert my ancestors.
I say more power to them. Let them take away the Easter Eggs. And chocolate rabbits.
More for the pagan kids.

Its based on a religious conviction. There is nothing wrong with a religious conviction being counter cultural. And the kids can have just as much fun without the eggs.

Though I disagree with this religious conviction I can understand where they are coming from. Also, please note that this is only a small percentage of pastors who are doing this.

My church in fact, is having an Easter Egg Hunt.

ahhh...the infamous, and largely fictitious, "they"...sounds like another urban legend, or internet myth...i'm a member of a southern baptist church, and our church always has an easter egg hunt for the kiddos...then the family has another one after easter dinner...led by the parents (5 of them are deacons, and a couple are sunday school teachers-even a missionary in the bunch) who hide the eggs while the kids are finishing dessert...and they'd better NOT be stomping around in the tulips...you don't mess with nana's tulips...

Well for one that will never happen. Do you honestly think the candy companies are going to agree with that?

But technically...Easter bunnies and eggs came from pagan traditions. So if you are serious about your religion then you shouldn't use those symbols. They aren't symbols of Christ.

Personally, I think Jesus is delighted by the celebration of his resurrection, no matter how we do it. And surely bringing happiest to children by having chocolate bunnies and brightly colored eggs pleases him greatly. I think Pastors that would try to take away those things are not being every thoughtful of WWJD.

Not sure where the question is here. But maybe they want to take away the easter eggs because they're a pagan symbol?

With all due respect; that appears to be part of the diversion from Passover to Easter! Chocolate treats can be given to the kids any time of year; can it not?

tell him the story about how Jesus while hanging on the cross released his bowels on a little bunny hanging out under the cross, thus the sacred chocolate easter bunny!
The collored eggs?

Our church always hides easter eggs for the children. When parents find evil in it we will stop it.
