i think my dog is part elkhound?

he has a very curley tail, much more than i have ever seen on a chow or akita it makes a full circle and then some, but sometimes his tail uncurls and falls down, do norwegein elkhounds tail ever straighten out?

if you mean straighten out permantly no, not unless they are not purebred..smile

My Norwegian Elkhound straightened out her tail when she was sad or scared. Otherwise it was curled up over her back.
