it was called 'homo beer' and you should not drink such things unless you plan to go home wearing highheels and or a feather boa

You might have had a "Monaco" which is beer and grenadine, which makes the beer tastes sweeter. When I was in college, on my semester in France, we used to drink them all the time. It's also called a "Snakebite" in Australia.

It could've been Pink Killer (http://www.silly-beer.com/p_pink_en.htm) which I tried at the Delerium Cafe in Brussels recently...I think that was grapefruit flavored....or it might havew been a Fruit Lambic, like Lindemans Kriek: http://www.beermania.be/beer_images/lindemans_kriek.jpg
