How to locate a vehicle earlier than 1980? I have the VIN #. had no luck with the DMV.?

Vin # 134378A128842 1968 Chevelle, Was in mint condition when it was sold. Just wondering if it was still around. maybe buy it back. Thanks

The VIN was standardized in 1981. There are no databases or other tracking systems for pre-1981 cars.
