Yes, because breasts are natural, but I also think that the dolls should be more realistic looking. I read somewhere that if Barbie were scaled to be an actual human, she'd be like 7 ft tall, and her breasts would be so big and her waist so small that she'd be top heavy and physically unable to stand upright. That's not a good image to be projecting onto girls as young as 4-5 years old.
I'm expecting a little girl in a few weeks, and I will absolutely not allow Barbies in my house when she is older. They teach girls to have an unattainable idea of the perfect woman, and are horrible for the child's self image. Think of all the teenage girls who grew up playing with Barbie and are now anorexic or bulimic, just trying to look like they think the "perfect woman" looks. It's ridiculous.

Of course they should. Children are not dumb. They can look at a woman fully clothed and tell that she is made different than a male as far as breasts are concerned. I am glad they don't make them anatomically correct in the lower regions, because I think that would be confusing to a small child to see the doll have different body parts than they do down there because that is something that is not apparent to them already. I think that it should be the parents responsibility to provide that information. They do make some other dolls with genitals, so a parent who thinks their child would be okay with that and could use it as a teaching aid would have it available. I just don't think they should ALL have them. That way the parent can choose what is age appropriate for their child.

Of course they should. The dolls are supposed to be women, why wouldn't they have breasts? Should female teachers have their breasts removed so that children aren't exposed to those either? Kids know that breasts exist, there's no point in hiding them. I'm not saying have women walk around topless (although that's not that uncommon in many countries), but hiding natural things like breasts from children won't help them. Besides, if kids actually get off on Barbie's plastic breasts than we have bigger problems than the breasts being there in the first place.

I don't see a problem with it. A child pretends with a barbie. It is a representation of an adult woman and if we take the breasts off that sends a message to children that breasts are bad and wrong. We cannot shelter children from everything. How many generations have grown up playing with barbie? I played with them as a child and I never thought anything dirty or "unholy" when I played with them.

I think so... Nothing excessively sized or anything like that, but on someone Barbie's age (about 20 or so), it's perfectly normal for a woman to have breasts at that point.
If you're concerned about Barbies having breasts, consider buying Baby Sister Kelly or one of the "younger" Barbie friends.

yes, but not to the extreme. no one wants their child growing up to get large plastic surjery on their breasts to make it large like their role-model, barbie.
but when i said "not the the extreme," I meant that they should definetly keep the breasts there. I mean, children need to get used to seeing it; it's part of the human body, and it's natural. it's not a bad thing to have breasts, see them, talk about them, or play with a barbie doll that has them. (after all, barbie is, in fact, a woman)

Yes...and i think kents should have birdies too and barbies should have all the female parts down there too...plus the red dots on the breasts....really.... why should we hide the way our bodies really are...this is ridiculous. It's like thinking that only a person with out all these parts his shameless and good. Maybe the dolls just shouldn't have eyes or we shouldn't have eyes so we won't see things the way they really are. Why is it so bad for kids to know what our bodies look like as grown adults.............this issssssssssss soooooooo dumb.

Barbie dolls are made to be adult women. So yes, they should have breasts. The real question, is should they be made in the shape of an anorexic silicone enhanced grown woman?

Well Barbie represents a woman, not a child. Even children can see that real women have breasts, so why shouldn't a Barbie. Of course Barbie should have boobs. It's adults who have been puritanized that associate nothing but sex with human genitalia. Adults make what's natural, dirty. Boobs aren't dirty.

yes- but not huge ones like they have. I think it's good that they have body parts to you can teach your children about them. I just don't think they need to be big boobs or tiny figure. That only tells children that if they want to be pretty like barbi then they need to be really tiny and big boobs. I feel it's ok for a child to look and be how ever they want, big or small they are our children and we will love them no matter what. On the other hand i don't think that children need to be 350 pounds at 7 years old, like you hear on tv. there something really wrong with that, and unhealthy.
