I usually have oily skin and I never really got into taking care of my skin until recently (shame on me, I know) so I got a facial puff thing that is supposed to be gentle on my skin for daily cleansing, but now that I've gotten more regular with my skincare, my face is slightly itchy. Should I just stick with a softer cloth? Any tips?

Could it just be the weather also? My grandmother keeps telling me that "this time of the year" makes people get dry skin.

Wash with a facial cleanser
Tone
Hydrate with an oil-free moisturizer (water based)

Throw out that scrubby, and leave that to your facial scrub- like a microdermabrasion scrub. It's important not to scrub more then 2-3 times a week if oily. And remember! Let the scrub do the work, not the pressure of your hands. Be gentle. It best to use your hands in the cleansing process. Then use toner to balance your PH and remove anything missed in the cleanse. It sounds like you may be topically de-hydrated. Drink plenty of water, and make SURE you use a moisturizer (with spf, too).
Hope this gets you relief.

I have oily skin and have only begun using skin care products since 2005. Sounds like you shouldn't be using that facial puff because your skin doesn't like it. It's irritating.

Here's what I do and what I think is important after researching a lot on the internet about skin care in general.

Cleanse, (tone) and moisturize. Simple 3 steps. Wash your skin twice a day. Once in the morning, once at night. Cleaning more than twice overdries and can cause your skin to produce more oil. Use a simple cleanser to remove impurities (dirt, bacteria, oil) and then follow with a toner or moisturizer. Toner isn't neccessary, but can make your skin feel cleaner. A matter of preference really. Use allergy tested, non comodegenic products so you have a less chance of breaking out. No product is better than another. Simply research and choose one base on your preference, skin type and financial resources. Good luck!

Your skin is irritated by it, although it is suppose to gentle on your face it isnt, it maybe for some people but everyone is different. The more you exfoliate your skin, the more oily its going to get. You should try to use it every other day and see if that helps or 3 times a wk. if it continues too than i would switch to something else.

Proactiv's daily oil control works really well too, you may want to check that out.

my skin gets itchy when it's dry. have you been putting moisturizer on after? your skin could just be getting irritated from what you're using, you might want to try a softer cloth and make sure the cleanser you're using isn't too harsh for your skin. if you use something that strips your skin of all it's natural oils and you don't moisturize it causes the skin to over produce oil to make up for it..

If your skin is itchy you might be allergic to what you are using. You might want to try a gentle cleanser, I like ones that are cleansing gels, they reduce oily-ness. If you have concerns you might want to talk to a dermatologist.

If your skin itches, sadly, you might be allergic to the material or have sensative skin. A good toner might help with oilyness. You can use cotton balls to apply it and use shine absorbing sheets to shoak up excess oil. Always use (oil free) Spf on your face before going out. GOOD LUCK !

It might be that your using it too much? Try cutting down again, but still so it is regular enough to take effect.
