I used to have one where i could just hit record and it would capture the audio but I lost it.

Advanced Sound Recorder. Whatever you hear through your speakers, it'll capture it.

Free Hi-Q Recorder can do that for you. It's a 3.14MB download and the only limitation in the free version is the quality of the sound, as the bitrate won't go over 96. Still very handy though. Have a look at the screenshots, I'm sure you'll like it.

I usually just run a cord from my sount output to my sound input, and record it with polarbits sound recorder. That has always been the easiet way.

use windows movie maker and get a double sided headphone jack. plug one side into the headphoen socket and the other in the mic. then click the record button

Hypercam is not a very good one, quite pixelated.
Can't you just download the audio?
