I live in Orlando. Roads are a little bit tricky thanks to all those lakes. Especially near downtown. Driving in Puerto Rico is a million times worse, roads are not straight, street names for example have no East/West, North/South designations, and drivers are insanely aggressive. Using the turn signal there has the opposite effect.

Ok, what I do is to write down the roads before my exit/turn (to be in the correct lane) and the ones after (just in case I miss them). Also, you might memorize the important roads near the Wet and Wild area. For example, I4, John Young Parkway, Sand Lake Road, 528 BeachLine, International Drive, etc. (I am that careful because I am a contractor and have job interviews in random places anywhere.)

Google Earth is great, although the Orlando photos are ancient. You can see some landmarks, simulate driving, etc.

If I get horrendously lost, I use the sun as my reference. Don't forget to keep track of how many miles between points. You do have a copilot, that makes everything much easier. :)

Yes, I have done that before a few times....LOL...LOL.. What I did to help me over come the fear of getting lost. I turn the whole thing into an adventure. Yep, that what I did I turn my trip into an adventure and have fun with it.

OK, think about this here for a moment, you have everything right there in front of you to make this an adventure. You lived in Orlando and you have an hour drive to Melbourne, Fl to a theme park (Wet n Wild).

This is your mission to get your 9 yrs old daughter to Wet n Wild and the two of your return home safety. Your only enemy is Fear and getting Lost, there is no time to panic. The great time that your daughter and yourself is counting on you, with map quest is your guide. You can defeat Fear and getting Lost hands down. Now, mother....good luck and be adventurous. Now think about the music score from Mission Impossible playing.....Or you can pretend that you're Luke Skywalker and I am Oben wan given you instruction about using the force (the force is believe in yourself that you can do it without the fear of getting lost) smile. Good Luck mom, you can do it..I know you can...trust the force.....wink...
