If I felt like my baby needed a longer nap I would always sleep with them it seemed to increase their naps by about an hour.

And to help with the over supply you can try only feeding off one breast for three hours and then switch to the other breast for about three hours go back and forth between the two like that and your milk supply will regulate out. Oh and do not pump and freeze as suggested unless you need the frozen milk for some reason.

Just thought I'd commiserate. My little guy's naps were what I called a Standard Nap Unit (45 min), until just recently, at over 1 year. If he went over one SNU, he'd go to two SNUs (90 min), but that was rare, rare, rare.

The only thing that worked with me was time. Same goes with the over supply issue.

Things you can try are: have a wind-down time before nap, predictable, like go and sit in a dark and quiet room for a few minutes. Make sure the room is dark for his naps. Have something going for white noise - I use a fan or an air filter.

Keep him up longer in the day. Less naps- Just try to give him one good nap after a full feeding. That should help. Or even feed him a little cereal if his doctor says it is ok.

My baby doesn't sleep at all in the daytime, and I get no rest! Try pumping it so you know how much you are giving him, he might not be getting as much as you think. Also, you might try adding some rice cereal to his milk. I dd that and now my baby sleeps through the night. Good luck!

Be patient....it will happen. Perhaps your breast milk is not very filling for him. Have your milk checked.
My daughterinlaw had twins that she nursed...talk about a LACK of sleep for a while...but she made it and the girls are now 8 years old.
Hang in there. :o)

PUMP! and freeze it!
My baby is breastfed too and he will eat for about 5 minutes and fall asleep and I can't wake him back up so I put him in his crib and he wakes up 10 minutes later...we do that for a couple hours! But he is only 4 weeks.....
Do not give him cereal in his bottle. I know someone will say that.
