The polyurethane foam in the top layers of most innerspring mattresses rapidly degrades, resulting in body depressions . . compare construction.

One thing I can say for sure is make sure that it comes with a full value replacement warranty. I bought an expensive mattress and box spring set with a 15 yr. warranty. Thought ok great. Well, 2 yrs later the mattress is sagging into the middle on both sides (and I am not a large person). I called the company with the warranty and they replaced it with a set that was much lower in value than what I paid originally because they took off for depreciation. UGH!!! I would look for comfort and a good warranty. good luck.

Boodles ... If you're on a budget, start with the least expensive mattresses and test them for the right comfort and firmness.

You had specifically mentioned mattresses. But if you're shopping for box springs too, watch out. The last time I purchased a set, I luckily turned over and found the box spring I had just tested was not for me. Why? Do you know what a car does if it has no shocks? That's what this box spring did; when I rolled over, it just kept bouncing and bouncing and bouncing. I thought I was on a trampoline. Fun if you want to jump up and down in bed, but not so fun if you want to turn over without being awakened.

I hope you find what you're looking for without busting your budget. Good luck.
