Hi,
Your local veterinarian may carry a product called Capstar. It is a tablet that kills fleas that are on the dog for up to 8 hours. At the same time apply Frontline which will kill fleas on the dog for up to 30 days.
Vacuum vacuum vacuum your house. Sprinkle some flea Powder down before vacuuming this way any fleas that get sucked up will die from the powder. Vacuum under the furniture, the closet floors, inbetween the cusions in the furniture. Wash bedding in hot water. Throw the vacuum cleaner bag away outside far away from the house! The next thing to do is to bomb the house with flea bombs from your local hardware store. Repeat this process in 21 days, the lifecycle of the flea. Use Frontline year round and you will not have a flea problem again!
Best wishes
Pam

Treat the dog with a good (not Hartz) flea solution like Frontline and make sure you do this every month.
Also, make sure you emtpy the vacuum, seal that trash bag and get it out of the house when you vacuum. Also get a household flea cleaner, or a fogger (but make sure you read the directions and keep Max, and any children out of the house while you do it) this should help any surfaces.
While you are in the process of doing this, also wash bedding or anything that might be a good place for the flea eggs to hide.
Flea eggs can survive quite a while without a host, and they can be on the floor, in your furniture anywhere really. So you need to be really thorough to make sure you get it all. Another place to look is the potted plants in the house, we have 2 indoor cats who got fleas that way!

This problem is very easily treated these days, but you need to get your flea treatment from the vet.
Use Frontline or Stronghold drops - all the fleas will be dead within 24 hours as long as you part the dogs fur and make sure it soaks fully into the skin, not onto the fur. You can also use Frontline spray as this works even more quickly, but is very messy and smelly!
You also need a housepray from the vets for your hom - Indorex, Staykil, Acclaim, all good.
Some vets require the animal to be seen before dispensing flea treatments, but most don't, especially if you explain the severity of the problem!
Don't be fooled by cheapo stuff from pet shops, it doesn't work! This includes 'flea bombs' - complete pointlessness.

Get your dog a flea dip treatment at a groomer or Petsmart. The same day, keep your dog at a doggy day camp. Don't bring him home after the flea treatment bath! That way he can't get fleas from the house all over again.
Go buy some Frontline to put on Max later.
Buy a box or two (depending on the size of your home) of Raid Defogger stuff that kills fleas and flea larvae. Let them off in your house. Air out the house for a few hours.
Go pick up Max. Apply the Frontline to him as per the instructions on the box.
Hope that helps, if you choose to do it! :)

Go buy some flea shampoo from the vet's office and give your dog a bath in the backyard. Make sure it's nice weather since you don't want your dog or yourself to get sick, spray yourself down also after giving him a bath since fleas will jump on you when you are giving him a bath. Plus if you can afford to, get a company in to spray your house for fleas and to do a major cleaning as well.

You need a strong treatment from the vet to deal with this problem as well as treating your dog you have to treat the house no matter how careful you have been your house will be infected There are sprays you can get but If the infestation is really bad I would ask the advice of your vet when you are there as he might think it best to get the professionals in

go to the vet, buy FRONTLINE for him, and INDOREX household flea spray, the frontline will kill the fleas on him, keep him deflead every 6 weeks, spray your house with the flea spray, hoover every 2nd day for 2 weeks, throw the hoover bag in the bin outside the house after every hoovering. Then after that, you can let him in....make sure if he is in contact with other dogs or cats, that they are flea protected also.
