I've never enjoyed that kind of parties either, I like to go out hiking or visiting a museum or just visit with one or two friends at a time. It's not really a health thing for me, but I just don't enjoy the music so loud that you can't even have a normal conversation, smoky environment that is just plain gross, obnoxious drunks... At home I'm never bored, I have stacks of books I still want to read and I love quiet evenings at home... at parties halfway through the evening I'm usually pretty fed up with it all unless the music isn't too loud so you can still chat without screaming your lungs out.

In my opinion, you are right.
However. I partied pretty hard through high school, the marine corps and then college...I worked in the nightclub industry for a few years after college and prison.
I have a lot of incredible memories and experiences that I KNOW I would not have otherwise enjoyed. It is just that extra little helping of "crazy" that the party crowed has that allows them to accumulate such experiences. Like random road trips (and every thing involved with that) to a concert 1000 miles away. Waking up in a WHOLE different city than you went to sleep in. Meeting an incredible amount of people. Buying a motorcycle one day, just because, its not just the drinking and bad food...that is just part of it. It is a life style.
I have stories that I don't even tell, because I already know people would think I was lying. I do have some wonderful memories that I would not trade anything for.
Now, I am married with kids...would I want my kids to choose that lifestyle...I don't know. As long as they could keep on track like I did (until prison - DUI auto wreck, people injured).
Would I take it back? No. What is the alternative? Being a homebody? I'll pass.
That is what is great about it. There are lots of drawbacks...hangovers, never putting roots down, waiting so long in life to be serious etc. But again, I would not trade it.

I understand where you're coming from, I'm not one for making the bar scene either. But doing other activities with friends like movies, museums, observatory and so on, really seem like much more fun activities to me. Just spend time with friends doing things you really like, and as they say, the right one is bound to come, one day or another..... Just keep living life and making the most of it, enjoy!

there's really nothing too great about it. i find it better to perserve myself in front of my tivo on the days my friends go out to do some underage drinking at one of their houses. i do go out to dance and have fun though. but what people don't realize is you can have fun without drugs and alcohol.

i think of partying as fun socializing with ppl you care about and dancing. thats healthy.
that is just the stereotypical version of partying in my opinion... you dont need that stuff to have a good time!

I am not sure that life without merriment has much to recomend it.
Better a short happy life than a long miserable one any day.

I loved my partying years and wouldn't change a thing about them...I still enjoy partying actually, but I've always respected those who didn't party.
