The great thing about goldens is that they want to please people so much. If you work with him for about 20 minutes every day (not necessarily all at once at this age) it should be fairly easy. Taking him to a class will help too. I took my dog to the PetsMart classes, and the trainer was a great help. Good luck.

Read information on the Internet, buy some magazines and books, and take him to some obedience classes--I know some of them are at Petco or PetSmart. Remember to have a lot of patience because your puppy is still a baby! Don't let him get any bad habits either. Good luck!

Like I have read in some of your other postings, goldens are amazing. They desire attention and are very affectionate. If you spend time playing with them, praising them, petting them, etc is all it takes. Unless you are looking for a hunting dog, then you may need some training. Our golden is seven and absolutely wonderful.

I have a Rottweiler, 2 cats, a parrot and two kids its not how to train him its making sure to have the time to spend w/ him to train him. I spent the first year of my rotts (bear) life being w/ him and training always let him no your in control if he gets to rambunctious like biting hold his mouth closed and tell him no. for sitting use treats and lightly push down on his butt and say sit if he sits give him a treat. the more he does it slowly take the treats away but still give him tons of praise when he does something you want.

if they begin to associate certain things with good things like treats they will repeat it again, for instance to stand up encourage your dog to stand with treat and then reward do this over and over and your dog will catch on very quickly those types of breeds are always quite easy to work with. good luck
