Aly, I sometimes wonder the same thing...not about God, on that I stand strong...but about the Bible. I read the history of the making of the English Bible and it blew me away how wreckless they were with something they supposedly also believed was the Word of God. For this reason I cannot believe in a Bible that is inerrant...I use it and frequently but also with the idea that while it may be man's word of God written by man, God did not write it himself.

The Bible is not one book, but a collection of books all of them ancient. Let's look for a moment at the books that make up what we now call the New Testament. There are thousands of early copies of these books. More copies have been made of these books than any ancient book. If someone tried to change it hundreds of years later, we can simply go back and look at the earlier copies. If fact many individuals and cults did try to change it. But the few variant copies are easily weeded out by the older manuscripts.
But we are not done there. Even if all the ancient copies of the New Testament disappeared in a puff of smoke (unlikely but bear with me)- even so we could reconstruct the ENTIRE New Testament from quotations found in the many letters written by pastors in the early Christian Church! There is NO WAY that could be faked. There is simply a mountain of evidence to back up the New Testament. As I said, there is much more evidence to back it up than any other ancient book.
If we can't trust the New Testament, then we can't trust any ancient document. But that's silly. It is enough to say that the New Testament is reliable.
And now I could go on to talk about the Old Testament which is also reliable. But I think that's enough for now.

Of course it was tampered with, we are human, it is our way. The political climate, the fear, the need for control of the masses, the need to be "right" all contributed to the writings of the bible. Somewhere the message was lost to us, it is still there, we just have to look harder to find it I would like to know why the Christians and other religions state that the bible is the only word of god. Is that it? just that from 2000 years ago and GOD doesn't have anything else to say? There is no more? If those MEN who wrote the words were inspired by GOD why can't anyone else be inspired? How arrogant we are to think that GOD has nothing else to say. Doesn't the bible say "the truth will be written on your heart" I know that it is written on mine and I listen carefully everyday. When we can listen to the holy spirit that is inside us instead of listening to the words of men we will all be better off.
You ask why we should have faith in religion? We shouldn';t have faith in religion we should have faith in GOD and we have a direct connection to him, we do not need religion or anyone else telling us what to believe or how to act or whats going to happen, JUST ASK HIM!!!

Yes, I agree men could have tampered with The Word over time except; Let's not forget where the Book came from and that He was , is and always will be greater then any man. You see it is His' Word and He will not let anything or anyone change it. If you read it and read it with an open mind then look around and listen to the TV, radio, or read the Newspaper, you can see the Word coming true more and more everyday.

To the best of my knowledge the bible was first translated from Hebrew (the Torah) to Greek then it was translated from Greek to Latin and King James king of England translated the bible into English.I believe the King James bible is the true words of God.I don't believe in any bible which says Jesus's mother was a maiden instead of saying she was a virgin.I don't believe any bible which was changed to serve any religious beliefs such as the book of Mormon or the Jehovah's witness bible or any other bible such as those.I avoid religion as if it were the plague and as a result I am free to serve my Lord and Savior the way I was meant to.With all my heart and soul.

Christianity is Not based on a book. It is based, if you will, in a person.
The person of Jesus the Christ, who is the Son of God, one of the 3 persons of the Holy Trinity.
The true form of God's Word, is His Son Jesus. We have the written word in the Bible, and I believe it to be reliable for because, I believe that if God wanted it changed or if it was not pleasing in His sight, we wouldn't have it.
If He wants us to have it nothing could prevent it from being distributed, and if He didn't nothing in the world could make it happen.

That is so true.
Thats why it is important that we pray about what we read and not just believed.
I was a Catholic and heard about the book of Mormon and they claimed to have a untainted book with a testimony of Christ.
As a Christian how could I turn up reading it right?
Then in the back of the book after you read it says he who asks God if this book is true and church is true God will manifest it through the holy ghost.
That seemed fair enough. I did what it asked and got what it promised. I had to convert after getting a answer like that. If God confirms something then we know it is true.

It all come do to faith. Many believe in Jesus but not the Bible. I say if you except one there in no room not to except the other. The Bible, all of it both Old Testament and New Testament reveal Jesus as God. It is consistent in this proclamation. Jesus quoted from every book except Ester in the OT. Jesus said of His word that heaven and Earth would pass away but that His word would endure for all time.. Here is the part that makes it so important.. Either the Bible is what it claims to be of Jesus is a false Christ and we have no hope... I except Him as my Lord, my Savior and my God.. Therefore the Bible has not passed away it is as trustworthy now as the day the men God inspired to write it took pen to paper,,, Jim

This is a touchy subject, but I believe that most of the information in the bible is untampered with. I believe this because it shows a good display of love and peace and being a good neighbor. I am a christian, and I trust in the word of god but it states in the bible that anyone who changes anything in the lord's word will be punished greatly.

that is the beginning of faith. Faith that it really holds the true word of God, which I believe it does. If God can have the virgin Mary birth Jesus Christ, wouldn't he also be in control of what is or is not written in the Holy Bible?
