Besides the stated, during the healing process a number of people use too much moisturizer, thinking more is better. This can clog pores and make a rash, delay healing, and regardless really make the area itch.
I never put more on than to make the skin feel like the surrounding skin - well, now. I made that mistake on my first (using too much), and had the itchies. Now, they have itched a little while healing, but it's pretty trivial.

if you're talking about the itching involved in the healing process... that's just part of healing. all cuts and open wounds itch when they heal you probably just don't notice it as much. if you are talking about after a tattoo is healed... it may be because there is an allergy to the ink or something.

well lets think about this for a minute there skippy.
*thinking*
ITS A DAMN WOUND.
Ashiny little piece of metal is entering your body when it shouldn' be. the body is regenerating the skin that is lost during the healing process.
also, itching is spelled with a t! "tattoo iching????"
spell check does wonders.

Because your body treats it just like any other skin injury (burn, scrape, etc.). When it heals, it itches. Part of it can be dryness so keep putting unscented, mild, natural lotion on it, and tap lightly on it with your fingertips if it gets really itchy.

I haven't found them to be itchy in the healing process. Make sure you apply the proper cream than put some glad wrap around it to seal it.

It shouldnt itch if you are properly taking care of it. I bought Vitamin A & D and never had any problems.

for the same reason any other scar that is healing itches! Because it is healing! Its your body healing the skin you injured.

New skin is forming. It is part of the healing process.
Same with a sunburn. As the damaged skin is exposed and peeled back, new skin emerges. This new skin gets itchy being exposed to the elements as it is brand new and growing and such.
dont scratch!!! you can slap it...and dont put anti itch creme on it either....
slap slap slap.....
