My son is 2 years old , actually he just turned 2. It seems like when someone comes over sick , he catches there sickness. I take him out all the time , shopping centers , park , I just keep him away from anyone i suspect maybe sick , and he is just fine , never gets sick ..If someone comes over to my home sick he will catch it 99 percent of the time..I ask people not to come over if they are sick but they do anyways , they say i'm just a paranoid mom , it makes me angry..I was wondering by school age are they stronger immune wise, I have a feeling my son will catch every bug that will be in his classroom..

I have two children under 3 years old, and they both attend daycare. They are always getting sick. Even when none of the children at Daycare are sick, mine seem to catch something. The thing is that the school age children can carry whatever virus without getting sick because their immune system is stronger, and they carry it and my kids catch it. I was told by the pediatrician that by the time that they are school age, their immunities will have built up and they shoudn't be sick as often.

My niece on the other hand did not attend any type of daycare or school before kindergarten, when she started school she was always sick and missed a lot of school.

Goodluck. I feel for you. It is so terrible when little ones are sick.

I don't know if any studies have been done or if there is any scientific evidence... but my two sons caught every virus, germ, etc. under the sun starting from birth, if anyone came within a 10 mile radius of them they caught it. Once they turned 5 and started kindergarten though, they have only been sick once this winter and it was a very mild stomach bug. No colds, nothing, and trust me they've been exposed to it. I joke that they have the immune systems of a trojan after all the illnesses they went through as babies/toddlers. So I guess there's hope! :)

I work in a day care, and there is no sure way to keep your kids from getting sick. The thing is is that when there younger like babies it's better for them to get most of the sickness, then there more likely to get a stronger anune system, my son is two and hardly ever gets sick, he had it allot when he was a baby. but keep them drinking juice with vitamin's, and vitamin Cs good for kids. but don't keep him cooped up. cuz when he dose get sick he'll get It bad.

Hey. This may sound mean but dont protect him too much. Its like a daycare, they will get sick alot in the begining, but that builds them up! Just wash his hands he will be fine.
