No, they are supposed to stand naturally. It may take until the puppies is almost a year old for the ears to stand well, but it is a fault to crop the ears.

No, a German Shepard's ears naturally stand up.

The term is called "cropping" and in the case of a German Shepherd, no. They have natural ears that in time will stand on their own. You may want to go online and actually look for a sight that tells you about your breed. You owe it to the dog to know what to expect from it.

Clipping is only for the vanity of the human. There is no benefit for the dog.
Some GS ears don't stand up until they're older. If they never stand up, so what! You'll have a lovely companion all the same.

LOL liked the "big ears" answer! My GS had "bat" ears.

NO NOT EVER!!
Their ears stand on their own some earlier than others but that depends on genetics and how heavy boned the dog is. Their ears are usually up by eight months at the latest.

NO! I don't like the clipping of ears, anyway, but German Sheperds are know for having unclipped, huge ears. I've had several rescues and they are fantastic dogs. Follow this link, so you can see the official scoop:

That's a great big NO, there's no reason for it whatsoever.

Only silly people who want to have every spare bit of their dog's chopped off do that - tail, ears, dew claws, voice boxes - why not just amputate their limbs to remove the risk of breaking them!

(this is not an attack on you, I know you were just asking a reasonable question - I'm just venting!)

Absolutely not! Those ears will stand up on their own. She's problably got the gsd breed mixed up with another breed. People do that at lot.

No, German Shpeherds have natually upright ears. I think it's cruel to crop ANY dog's ears, no matter how it makes them look.

No I don't believe you are supposed to clip their ears. Normally shepherds ears are floppy when they are young, but go on to pop up as they get older.
