My cat got fixed a week ago. He's been fine; his appetite is okay and he doesn't seem to be hurt.

However, he was laying on his back and I saw that there is some crusty yellowish stuff on his little balls. What is this? Discharge? He's so furry that I didn't see anything til now. They said there were no stitches; could this be an infection? I heard they sometimes close the area with glue. Maybe that's it?

Thanks!

Hi,
I have been a veterinary technician for almost 30 years. Some crust may be normal as sometimes a scab forms in that area. How long ago was he neutered? Is he on antibiotics? Is there any swelling or a moist discharge?
Is he eating and drinking well?
If he was neutered more than 5 days ago, he should have groomed himself enough to remove any crust without problems unless he is excessively licking. Your best bet is to call your veterinarian to let them know what is going on. If he is not on an antibiotic they may decide to put him on one. If he is licking a lot, they may need to put an Elizabethan collar on him to prevent him from doing so.
Best of luck!

It's possible that it's glue residue. If they didn't use stitches, than they had to close with glue. And no, it's not normal elmers glue - it's special surgical glue that is used on animals with thin skin that tears easily - cats and rabbits the two I can think of off the top of my head.

More likely, though, it's an infection. I would call the vet and let them know what's up. They may want to see him again.

I have never heard of closing a wound with glue.

I would take the cat to the vet, it is probably an infection (my cat got one after being fixed) and can probably be remedied with some antibiotics and cleaning, but only the vet can tell you.

You are a real good cat mom to have noticed the yellowish stuff. I would take your cat back to the vet, I think your cat has an infection.

That sounds like an infection to me...I'd take it to the vet again.
