Actually, although women turning 18 are not required to sign up for selective service, the language of the draft has been changed to include them, if the draft is reinstituted.
I have two daughters who are 15 and 17. My older daughter will turn 18 while Bush is still in office, and therefore, will be in danger of being drafted for one year.
The current administration has given me no reason to trust them about anything. I believe there would be near anarchy across the nation, if the military were drafting unwilling females into military service, but, it could happen.
The military does not really want females, especially thousands of untrained girls who are between the ages of 18 and 21. There is no appropriation for military medical services that are equipped to handle female injuries, pregnancies, std's, and health problems that can crop up with the function of kidneys and bladder, without adequate water during sustained physical stress.
It is also true that the military does not really want to see the decimation of their limited numbers to injury and death in Iraq and Afghanistan. We cannot help but notice that the military does not make choices, but is ordered by the Commander in Chief.
If Bush ordered a draft to include females, he legally can.
The Catholic church has documents they will provide to non-members to pre-emptively submit CO status to the DoD. These are available to men and women.
Personally, I think the drafting of females en masse into the US military would break it. There are many women over the age of 35-40 who could be easily trained and would make fearsome combatants, but really, can you see the 18 year old prom queen on the front lines, where the likes of the mahujadeen (for example) are engaged in ferocious attack?
Further, I did not raise my daughters to be fodder for the cannons of insanity of the Bush war agenda. If they were boys it would be the same.
To illustrate this point:
A friend of mine named Alyssa Peterson, age 24, intel jr. officer deployed to Iraq, was shot in the head by a US psyops operative, for refusing to torture a prisoner based on her personal moral code.
This is the Bush/Rumsfeld military and it's a good place to avoid at all costs. For girls, for boys, for women, for men.
Is it 2008 yet?

Why worry now about the uncertain. some how , someone decided women have as much Right on the field of battle as men. Our job is to protect our way of life ,which no other country in the world has. There is no honor in dying, but their is in saving others, and a sin against , God or whatever you believe your reason for being here is. You should never take your own life, what gives you the right to put a negative void by your own hand.

We are in a world screaming for peace...... a draft prevents choice and limits the peace effort.... If drafted I would rather walk away from a country or go to jail than fight a war serving the limited mental capacity of a president who has nothing better to do than wage war on other countries.... lets face it it's not like bush can run his own country it's pure arrogance to think that he can make a positive difference in another country..... War mongers should be thrown out of office TODAY

Women are not expected to sign up for selective service. Men are required when they turn 18 to sign up. If a draft is ever needed, it will be because we need more people on the front line. For the most part we don't put women on the front line anyway.

First of all, women are not eligible for the draft as it stands now. But if it were, and I was called, I'd do it without a second thought. And, why don't women need to watch children anymore? There are many moms, both working and stay at home, that need to care for their kids.

unlike most other country women do not have to sign up for military service. here men 18-32 (i think) have to sign up for selective service which puts them in a draft if there was one.
personal having a father, brothers, cousins anda fiance that have serviced and are currently in the armed forces, i would sign up and fight along side my country men and women.

i think of human beings would properly be chuffed to have the opinion that they like. they might desire to be able to precise there opinion, and people who pay attention (which ought to be a lot of human beings) ought to have an open concepts, and in step with danger exchange there opinion. some evaluations won't exchange into something, even though it doesnt recommend there valueless. regardless of if no person treasures your opinion, you ought to. Its what makes you who you're.
