Go see a pharmacist, ask for over the counter wash.

You may be picking it up some where, school, office, transport.

In the mean time, good head gear that covers the head will sure help(prevent the transfer in both directions).

Buy a special comb and use it.

your head feels very itchy, tell an adult as soon as possible. This is especially true if you know that other kids in your class or school have had lice. Don't wait around - the more time the lice have to lay nits, the itchier you will be!

Often a parent or school nurse can recognize head lice just by looking for nits in the hair. Some kids' parents will take them to the doctor so the doctor can check to see if lice are there.

If a kid has lice, an adult will need to buy a special medicated shampoo, cream, or lotion that kills lice. An adult will need to apply the medicine and follow the directions. Part of the treatment is combing your hair with a fine-tooth comb to remove the nits. The shampoo, cream, or lotion usually kills the lice right away. The itching should go away within a few days, but treatment may need to be repeated in 7 to 10 days to kill any new lice that may have hatched since the first treatment.

Do not use a hair dryer on your hair after washing with the medicated shampoo, lotion, or cream because they can contain flammable ingredients. You don't want your hair catching on fire.

Although lice can live for only 1 to 2 days off a person's head, it's a good idea for an adult to wash all your bedding, hats, clothing, and stuffed animals in hot water. Or he or she can seal these things in airtight bags for 10 days. That also will kill the lice and their eggs.

Vacuuming the carpets, upholstery, and car seats will take care of any lice that fell off before treatment. Combs, brushes, and hair accessories need to be soaked in hot water, washed with medicated shampoo, or thrown away. Sometimes it is difficult to get rid of the lice, so if that happens to you, have your parent talk to the doctor. There are stronger medicines and other treatments that they may decide to use.

If you can keep the hair clean lice will not live. They find a good dwelling in dirty hair with grime, sweat and dirt, a very healthy place to live. Please try the following.

Wash the hair with shampoo twice a week and if possible take head bath daily. Use a narrow teeth comb to brush the hair where all the big lice will come out. Put them in kerosene. They will die. Do not kill them with hand or on the head.

Mix little kerosene with coconut oil and apply on the hair and after half an hour wash with shampoo.

If you do not like it while sleeping apply/keep neem flowers in the hair (sprinkle on the pillow so that you head rests on that).

The lice will pack their baggage and run away with their families to the next person sleeping near you.

You can buy a small bottle (30 ml ) of lemon grass oil. Pour 5ml of it in to a bucket of 5 litres of warm water. Place the bucket on a platform to your hip level. Bend and dip your hair completely to the warm water. Use a small mug and pour the same warm water on your head closing your eyes. You may use a comb /brush for combing the hair. Continue for 5 minutes and wash with fresh water. Repeat twice in a week. You will get relief.

you will probably have everyone telling you mayonaisse, olive oil, hair spray, anything that suffocates them but i never had any luck with it... it took me 4 months to get rid of them off my daughters hair (she had really long thick hair and i was trying everything not to have to cut it, but when it came down to it, we had to go prescription from the doctor and cut it all off... i had to cut 4 inches off of my hair... my husband and son didnt have so much of a problem, but they both had flat tops...

i have done all the home remedies that i ever found on my kids (we had a bad lice problem going around the in school last year) and none of them worked... heck, none of the ones over the counter worked either for my daughter... i had to go prescription... the problem with the long hair is that any medication has to cover EVERY part of your hair and scalp... if you dont buy enough of the lice killing shampoo or lotion to get everywhere on your head, you will still have them... even if you just miss a tiny little spot... if you leave 2 alive, they just breed again.... i have to say my experience with the 'homeopathic' lice shampoos was poor...even if i poured it right on the little suckers, it didnt kill them... rid was the best but i tried to be cheap and didnt buy enough to cover all my daughters hair... the other thing is the combing.... problem is, even with the lice killing shampoo is that they only kill the lice that have hatched... nothing kills the eggs, so you can use the lice shampoo but if you dont make sure each and every egg is combed out of your hair, they will just be back in 4 days.... and by the time you notice, they have already laid more eggs so the cycle continues....

the other part to this is that you need to get the lice killing spray for anything in your house that you cant wash in the laundry with hot water and bleach and dry on hot for at least 45 minutes... otherwise, you have gotten rid of them from your head but they just jump back on from your pillow/couch/sheets/hairbrush/hairclips/ect... lice spray is not the same as flea spray- flea spray will not kill head lice.

and check everyone's head that lives with you...

Grind neem leaves & apply them on ur scalp & hair. Cover it with a towel for sometime. Then wash ur hair. Do this 3 or 4 times till it's all abolished. But make sure ur scalp don't get too dry & ends up in hair fall. U can apply good conditioners after hair wash

-okay this is gonna sound weird but it's worked wonders- use a mixture of minty-flavored conditioner, 2 tbsps of salt, olive oil, and vinegar (the cider vinegar is better than balsamic:P). mix that all together and put it on like shampoo. leave for a few minutes then use regular shampoo.
its weird, but apparently lice like super clean hair so use the other one i told you as well.

good luck:)

Teatree oil works well to keep them out and off bedding and clothing.

To remove them, you may have to go old fashioned and use a very fine comb and scrape them off your hair, its not easy, but if you have only had them a short time it is doable.

Change your bedding daily

nowadays the oral IVERMECTIN is the drug which can be taken orally to get rid of lice, LOCAL application is NOT necessary.
Consult your doctor for the appropriate dosage schedule of IVERMECTIN according to your age and weight.
