To prevent peeling, keep the skin moisturized. Aloe Vera gel works well. If you can find someone with the plant, fresh works better than bottled. For the sting, smear on Noxzema. It was originally made as a burn cream, then people noticed that it was good for your skin.

There are tons of aloe vera gels on the market. Ironically, they sell them right by the sunscreen. Apply a good coating at least a couple times a day, especially after showering (showering removes even more moisture from your skin). Basically, you're trying to prevent the skin from drying out. Also, I find it helpful to buy the kind that also contains Lidocaine. Its a mild analgesic (pain reliever) that also helps get rid of the stinging pain. If you blister or develop a rash, see your doctor immediately.

If you don't have any aloe vera, you could use a solid deodorant. (the white, not a gel) I'm not making this up. I heard of this years ago and I have done this three different times and it has worked for me.
