Most likely it takes about more than a thousand to one who experience such phenomenon. To most that never experienced it and are biased to the possiblity of it to happen therefore many will think of the one as schizophrenic. If you are it, you do not need to prove it to anyone. List down your experience/s and take note on what is the message. Use discernment all the time if it comes from what or whom you think it is. Not all that is good can be right, there are things that are sweet to hear or taste that may lead to death and there are things that may sound hard to accept but could lead one to the right path. Be discerning and be discreet.

Because other people do not understand us. They think that we literally hear voices in our head when that is not the case. They, too, hear Him, but choose to accept it as only their conscience talking and put it aside. They do not realize that their conscience is God speaking to them.
I also take great offense to the first answer. If people can not give a valid answer and only try to insult other people than they should not even bother answering, just my opinion.

people who have that opinion have never had the experience of knowing and truly communicating with the living God....it is like casting our pearls before swine so to speak.....they don't understand because they limit God or have never came into the salvation experience and then moved beyond that.....it is sad because He talks to us and we truly can hear Him...

Ask the same question but take God out of the picture and see how the answer is still the same:
"Why is it that when we talk to ourselves we're thinking, but when ourselves talk to us we have MPD?"

Well there are some that do think it's a little odd talking to air and expecting it to answer you back.
