I'm getting married in a couple of months and want to get my mom (my best friend) a great, personal gift. Any ideas? Something really meaningful.

A great idea for a personal and unique gift is a handmade painting made from a photo that you send.

Here's something creative that will be appreciated and you will have fun doing:

Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two would know about. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it!

The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating ... you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle.

Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard.

Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it a homemade feeling.

This is a really beautiful poem too!
Women have strengths that amaze men.
They carry children, they carry hardships, they carry burdens but they hold happiness, love and joy.
They smile when they want to scream.
They sing when they want to cry.
They cry when they are happy and laugh when they are nervous.
They fight for what they believe in.
They stand up for injustice.
They don't take "no" for an answer when they believe there is a better solution.
They go without new shoes so their children can have them.
They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.
They love unconditionally.
They cry when their children excel and cheer when their friends get awards.
They are happy when they hear about a birth or a new marriage. Their hearts break when a friend dies.
They have sorrow at the loss of a family member, yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left.
They know that a hug and a kiss can heal a broken heart.
Women come in all sizes, in all colors and shapes.
They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you to show how much they care about you.
The heart of a woman is what makes the world spin!
Women do more than just give birth.
They bring joy and hope.
They give compassion and ideals.
They give moral support to their family and friends.
Women have a lot to say and a lot to give.

What about a special piece of jewelry, maybe a mother's ring or a pin? I like the idea of an estate or antique piece.

What about a nice bottle of her favorite perfume, preferably something she'd never buy for herself? And maybe a pretty tray for her dresser to put the perfumes on.

Also, get her a nice card and write her a heartfelt letter to go with it, telling her how you feel and what she means to you.

You could take her out for a girl's day including lunch and maybe a visit to a spa, then give your gift at the end of the day.

I also wanted to give my mother something other than the traditional jewelry. I got her and my future mother in law a beautiful handkerchief that comes with a poem that you pick out. The website is www.newtraditionhankies.com
I hope you find what you're looking for!

Make her a scrap book and title it "I'll always be your little girl". I promise you she will cherish this forever! When you give it to her take her to lunch and go have your nails done and a pedicure...and spend a whole day with her! Here's another idea...I found this really great book of quotes and poems for mothers before I got married....a couple years later, she gave it back to me at my baby shower with notes and things she had added to it! I can't wait to pass it to my daughter...cheesey, but honestly one of my most prized posessions!

A mothers ring would be really nice. You can get one at any jewelry store and there are many different types to pick from. Since these are special ordered due to different birthstones, I recommend ordering it now

Pearls are always good unless she already has a good set.
