I doubt it would work. Just like I wish there was a category for "theology" under "Social Sciences" for people to actually get down and dirty and discuss the deeper issues. But if there were, it'd still be overrun by people who wouldn't want to take it seriously.

Besides, with that division, that leaves me out in the cold. I'm not a fundamentalist, but I'm quite religious which might lead some spiritualists to believe that I wouldn't belong in that category, either. And I don't want to be cold!!

I'm not sure I understand your question. Do you mean that so fundamentalists and Spiritualists can have discussions with each other without any Atheists/Agnostics, or so that fundamentalists and Spiritualists can have separate categories? Are those the only categories? What about mainstream religious believers (Catholics, Episcopals, mainline Methodists, liberal Muslims, Reform Jews, etc.?).
Isn't it better to hear from multiple perspectives?

No- because fundamentalists need to learn how to get along with the spiritualists and vice/versa. Otherwise there's no free forum for the exchange of ideas and people would become even more biased than they already are!

They could have an infinite number of categories, and people would still want to argue and cross-post.

I just keep asking the question: why would someone who is presumably content and "fulfilled" within his/her belief system have the motivation to poke virtual sticks in other people's eyes? Know what I mean?

If someone was an atheist and happy with it, why should he care what a Christian thinks or believes, as long as we're not talking about political agendas?

And if a Christian (or any other believer) has truly found peace in Jesus, why would he/she want to be aggressive in their "witnessing?" Is that "sales strategy" going to net more souls?

There's already too much division on this forum as it is. Why divide it up even more? If everybody were to be willing to keep an open mind and listen and hear and understand what each other was trying to say then things would probably be ten times better then what they are.

well, i happen to have both those qualities (more so spirituality). i guess being an Aquarius makes you that way.

but yes in agreement. i think i would probably venture more into the spiritualist category though....it defines who i am. it also can give me ideas when im drawing or painting. what category would you frequent more? thanks again for the intelligent questions.

In Narcotics Anonymous we say that religion is for people who are afraid to go to hell and spirituality is for people who've already been there. Besides, not everyone talking about religion is religious or a fundamentalist.
I'm a Militant Agnostic: I don't know and NEITHER DO YOU. For me, its about faith. Belief with a bunch of people who agree with you (ie. church) is easy. Faith without certainty requires thought and meditation.

No. The fundamentalists would get bored out of their minds. Imagine it:

Fundie 1: So, I love Jesus/Allah/Ahura Mazda and give myself to Him. You?
Fundie 2: Yeah, same.
Fundie 1: ...
Fundie 2: Now what?

They're sometimes entertaining, let them stay.

I think it's good for all of us to be 'exposed', if you will, to what others are thinking and feeling. It's the only way toward peace.
Once discussion/debate/fighting stops, we should all be scared. Best to you (I do understand the frustration, though)
