From my experience, stay away from the red! I have a red maple leaf on my back, and it looks burgundy (not a very nice shade) On the other hand, blue and green look really nice on black skin (I have a green/blue butterfly, it's so cute!). It's just because of the red undertones in our skin.

Definitely ask the tattoo artist. There are different brands and kinds of ink, and the artist has a choice about the size of needle to use too, so that could affect how much ink they can pack into the tattoo.

It's different for different skin tones, sure, but I have seen some really beautiful red tattoos on black skin.

That depends on how dark your skin is. A great Tattoo artist will be able to tell you what colors will work for your skin type.

If you go to a good artist they will let you know if it will work well or not. Just telling us your black means nothing as far as how dark your skin is. Just go to a decent artist, typically they do not want to do a tattoo that is not going to look good.

red probably wont show up well, but it depends on how dark your skin is. just watch any NFL game and look at the black guys with tattoos, you can see they hardly show up.

It depends on the shade of your skin. Call around to different tattooists in your area, find a good one who is comfortable inking darker skin, and ask his or her advice. Good luck!

red is nice for a rose but dont put it where you will regret it when you grow up!!
put it where clothing will hide it & not on your arm or shoulder & dont have it to large
