Gift vouchers!!

Best thing ever for weddings etc.

That way you're guaranteed that they'll get EXACTLY what THEY want!

Hope this helps!

If she hasn't got a house then almost anything nice or practical will be acceptable. Whether she has or hasn't a house store vouchers are really very useful for a home department. If you think vouchers looks like the easy way out or you want something personal with the gift then there are all sorts of books around as in Wedding Guest Book, to pass around at the wedding, Wedding Organiser Book, Wedding Photo Album. Lots on wedding sites, M & S also do them and many other stores.

It is not necessary but you could...

Get them a nice card from Clinton's.

As a gift consider:
Bottle of champagne
Nice white/rose wine
Photo frame from H Samuel
Nice champagne flutes
Gift voucher from John Lewis, Marks and Spencers, or you can Bonds vouchers from the post office which they can use in about 50 high street shops

Hope that gives you some ideas

Here's something creative that will be appreciated and you will have fun doing:

Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two would know about, or about her relationship with her new fiance. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it!

The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating ... you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle.

Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard.

Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it a homemade feeling.

I would save the big expensive gift for the wedding. here are my suggestions:
1. make a gift basket that the couple will enjoy. Like things they can use to go on a date. like things for a picnic, spa day, movie date (get movie certificates. there are also certificates for the snack. put in some 3d glasses to make if look fun) or a "just stay at home" day (put together the couples favorite snacks and a dvd they will both enjoy)
You can also make a gift basket that has things they would need on their wedding day. Like a wedding day "emergency kit". Put some crazy glue, sewing kit, invisible tape, fabric glue, safety pins, bobbie pins, evian (for the face), mouth wash, toothpicks, cologne (for men and women), bow tie/neck tie, etc. Put it in a white box/container/bag and put a big red cross on it like a medical emergency kit.
REMEMBER: it's all in the presentation
2. Get them tickets to a great show/play or attraction like disneyland or magic mountain.
3. If you are planning to pay for one of their wedding things like the invitation or the souvenirs, this is the best time to tell them about it. Put it in a card and give that card as your engagement party gift.
i can't think of anymore...
good luck

I buy my friends a small painting or limited edition framed print for engagements and on their weddings I buy a small item of crystal. Never been met with a negative from one of them in fact one friend phoned me at midnight because she had only just opened the painting I had given them as an engagement gift and she was so pleased with it.

Since it's for the Engagement party and not a bridal shower or wedding, I'd get her a nice wedding planner...that is complete with calendar and tips on wedding etiquette and budget worksheets! ....and a great card with a gift certificate to their favorite restaurant..so the groom to be is included as well!

Depends on how much you want to spend, but what about a meal for two gift voucher for a nice restaraunt....? You don`t have to worry about giving enough to cover the cost of the whole evening - nobody expects that when they get one of these - but it would be a nice thought and incentive for them to have a lovely night out. We give them all the time.

When my friend got engaged I bought them 2 champagne flutes and a bottle of champagne. Depending on how much u want to spend u could get crystal ones and could even get them engraved. If you're on a budget, Clinton cards do nice ones with "engagement" written on them. If you can't stretch to champagne, Asti is nice too.
Hope u have a good night!

It depends on what you want to spend. You can get her something really nice off her registry, or get her something personalized (like a woven blanket from things remembered), or something beautiful that she doesn't expect (like a set of candlesticks from tiffany). I believe that for an engagement, especially for someone you love as much as your best friend, you should get her something she'll want to keep forever--such as a vase, something to enhance her house (like a lladro figurine), or candlesticks. You shouldn't get her kitchenware or things like plates that she may break or replace in a few years--save that for her shower.

Hope I was helpful! Have fun at the party.

Gifts are not supposed to be given at engagement parties. Just go and attend the party.

Gifts are given at showers.

Wedding gifts are shipped or dropped off at the bride or groom's home (NOT brought in person tot he wedding ceremoyn or reception, as they create a transportation burden).
