My cat Jimmy wont come home. We play with him every day, cuddle with him every night, give him food and water and practically smother him with love. He's never tried to run away until he snuck outside one time. From then on he hasnt been coming home and he's been staying with the niebors across the street. The neibors know he is ours and they always bring him back but whenever he can get outside he runs over to there home. What can I do to get my little Jimbo back?

We don't own our cats, they own us. Maybe your cat has picked his own owners.

If you're allowing the cat outdoor access (like in the backyard or supervised playtime in the grass) please know that this is very hazardous for your cat. There are many insects which will bother your cat and possibly spread disease to him. There is the hazard that he will be hit by a moving vehicle or taken by someone. There are also stray cats that will engage him in fights that could seriously injure him. And of course, he might end up preferring your neighbor. Please keep your cat indoors at all times. If you're having trouble with him sneaking out, consider restricting him to just one or two rooms in the house where he can roam around freely. The safest idea is to just not allow him the opportunity, that way you don't lose your friend, and he wont get injured outside.
You can be more conscientious of his whereabouts and prevent him from escaping past you and out the door by attaching a bell to his collar. That way, if he is about to make a run for it, you can catch him or close the door in time.

Jimmy is becoming an all male cat and asserting what he wants. I suggest you get him neutered. If you don't, he will continue to go outside and cats don't live long once they are outside cats (too many predators + their weird mating practices).

I cant stand it when people just tell you cats choose their owners.. Yes we all know this but you can expect to just let a pet go that you love. all cats are like this. EG. I spent over $3000 on my one cat because she got hit by a car.. I would not let someone just take owner ship of my cat because I love her and I spent a lot of money on her.. they cant just have her for free!!

Sometimes you have to let something go. I'm not saying he doesn't love you he probably does. He doesn't want to be in a house all day. He seems to like the neighbors a lot too. Maybe you should let him do as he pleases.

maybe the neighbors are his kinda people. maybe they give him independence. cats choose who they like and dont like. maybe he just doesnt want to be part of your family. ya might as well just look into gettin another cat. good lucK!
