Yesterday night I got pulled over. He said he clocked me between 45-50 in a 35. I told him that i was going 40 and my rims might off-set the speedometer calibration. He reduced the ticket right there to a Failure to Obey Traffic Device (running a red light). Let me add, 2 months ago i got a ticket for failure to yield and no seatbelt and just mailed them in paying the fine. Think i should just pay the ticket or fight it?

in court it would always be he say she say. but of course the judge will take the law enforcements side. it wouldnt matter if your rims off set the speed calberation. speeding is speeding. i say you go to court plead guilty and ask the judge for a reduction on the fine. oh and since you didnt take traffic school i suggest you take it. and plus he put down failure to obey traffic device meaning that you ran a red or the red caught you at the half way point. so look at the stiuation thats 2 counts on you already. might i add you have a bad record for the previous ticket.

Traffic school is your other option, if available in your state.

You made an admission to the officer, that you broke the law by going over the speed limit, ""40" mph.

If you fight the ticket, the officer may appear to testify against you, and the admission shall be allowable into evidence.

Breaking the law is breaking the law, and you might get a stiffer sentence, as a result.

Good luck!

Well if your telling the truth you should fight it. It is unlawful for a peace officer to issue a citation for Failure to Obey a Traffic Device if you were speeding. That would be like giving a ticket for jaywalking if you were DUI. Giving a citation is officer disgretion. But changing a ticket to reflect a crime not committed is unlawful. You shouldn't be speeding in the first place.

Fight it and you will lose, simple as that. I do not know what state you live in, however, where I live they have it if you go to court you plead No Contest and pay the fine, however points are not assessed. If you fight it and lose, you can wind up paying even more. Good Luck.

Why would your rims off set the calibration? Do you have spinners or something? If they cause the radar to clock you wrong I'd ditch them.

if you have the time to go to court, do it! in most places if the cops doesn't show up in court the charges for a ticket will be reduced or dropped. don't let the points kill your insurance rate. PS. be polite and never interupt the judge. be humble.

You're guilty. Pay it and stop violating traffic laws.
