Yes. I have a 5 yr old Golden Retriever and when it storms outside she is the biggest baby...lol. She tries to climb on my lap. They are supposed to be gun dogs but again my dog is also afraid of a lot of things and we have never done anything to harm her either.

I have a 6 year old german shepard/st. bernard mix, and she has got to be the biggest sissy I think I've ever seen. She hates stranger people, but not in the way you are thinking. She will run and hide from anyone that walks in the house besides the persons who live with her. She is great with all kinds of kids, but just leery of all aduls. We have a rottie also, that everytime you move near her, she will cower like she's been beatin all her life. None of my dogs have ever been beat, ever. Strange the behavior that they pick up, or morph into. Good luck, and it could be something that you just have to deal with. She still loves you, and looks to you for protection. I always thought it was the other way around too but to each his/her own.

I believe many people have this problem. Here are some ways you can resolve this issue. If its exccessive fear check with your vet. Try introducing your pet to the things it fears. You have to help it though. If it starts to gets nervous stop though. Don't force it either though. Never yell at her when she is scared. It will take some training for your dog to adjust to the situations. Be patient and kind to her, and she won't be scared anymore. I hope this helps you and your dog.

She sounds very submissive and high-strung. I don't think of goldens as high strung, perhaps she really would improve with anti-anxiety medication?
