I'm 14, but my family has no history of mental disorders. But lately, I've been feeling something is wrong. One minute I'll be all giddy, and hyper, and happy, and then the next I'll be all angry for no reason. I'll yell at people then feel guilty about it later. And then all someone has to do is say one word, and I'll get upset for no reason. This isn't really normal for me and it's been going on for over a month. I'm not sure if it's something to worry about, or if I ignore it if it will go away.. Is it just stress, or is it something more serious? I have been reading others' questions about this, and I present a lot of other symptoms.
I'm not sure if I should wait, or tell someone like a counseler in school or a parent, or what.
Any suggestions/help?

I highly doubt you're bipolar, however if you are having emotional issues, it always helps to talk with someone you trust about it.

I really do not think that you are bipolar. Bipolar has Many, Many other problems that go along with it. I know many people that are happy and then get angry and agitated, including myself when I was younger. I had a lot of problems and things that built up on me in my lifetime and I was a kind of angry person, and Did not have a lot of patience, this is very common with many people I know. But if you feel like your are under a lot of stress and you are having a lot of emotional problems, you may need to talk to someone to get some type of help. Don't stress about being bipolar though. This is most likely not the issue.

You know, you are too young at 14 to be diagnosed as bi-polar. Your hormones are fluctuating at this age and causing mood swings. This is absolutely normal teenage behavior.
It can never hurt, though, to talk to a counselor. Heck! That's what they're there for...and if your parents have insurance, it might even cover a number of visits to a pyschologist, something you should not feel nervous about but privileged to be able to do. Psychologists cannot prescribe drugs; only recommend them. However, I would suggest that you find a psychologist that specializes in teenagers, if you possibly can. My daughter goes as a matter of course, just because she can. She discusses all kinds of things with the psychologist, and the things she discusses are not disclosed to me and her Dad.
Well, I certainly hope this eases your mind a bit..
Take care!

You sound like a normal 14 year old to me. I think when everyone is around that age they start going a little crazy for awhile. It's all about your hormones. Don't worry, you'll be normal around 19.
Bipolar is about having manic episodes, like running away from home and getting addicted to cocaine. That type of thing. It's not about just having mood swings. So I don't think you're bipolar. Just enjoy your teenage years before you have to become a responsible adult.
Find something to focus those feelings on. like I did at that age. I started photography and writing poems to express all my feelings. I made some really awesome art those years, because I was so emotional. You should try something like that.

Don't try to diagnose yourself. There is so much information available today that people try to figure out for themselves what is wrong when they begin to feel differently then they normally do. Has your family noticed any of the behaviors you mentioned? By all means tell someone of your concerns. If you don't feel that you can talk to your parents, talk to another adult you trust who can help you tell your parents. The bottom lline is that your parents need to know unless there are special issues that would not make that possible. You need to have your parents support to see your family doctor to begin with. He/she can then refer you to a counselor if he/she is concerned that your have a problem that is beyond his/her scope of practice. Family doctors can't be expert at everything but they do know where to send you if you have a problem they can't address. The more you worry about it with seeing someone who is trained to diagnose such things, the more upset you will be.

Young teens frequently undergo a "manic/depressive" stage. Your body, mind and identity are in a state of flux right now. Try to direct your moments of anger so that you do not make any big mistakes or enemies and in a year or two your moods will probably even out.

At 14 you are going through a hard time adjusting emotionally and physically. If you are very concerned you should talk to your parents.
