What about a Memory Box? There are some lovely ones around, specialised gift shops often do some really nice lines in these. You could always get it engraved with her name, date, to from etc. If it's made of a soft material a little plaque could be engraved and put on to it. She could then put all sorts of things in it that she wants to remember, probably her mum has some things since she was a baby and even if she now starts going to pop concerts or whatever she can store tickets, programmes and things like that.

You could give her a book that is special to you and write why it is special and why you bought it for her. Put the year you got it for her too. Then she can always have something that reminds her of you.
Fashion trends come and go, but something that is special that you can have between the two of you will last.

My first thought was to scrapbook her life too, with pics from the day she was born up thru now. You can also make her a cd slideshow and set music to it with pics from her life or a collage picture frame with her pics mounted inside. Another idea is a shadow box of memories which you could put one of her baby dresses or shoes, baby braclet or hospital braclet in, first clip of hair with a ribbon tied around it, small toys she had, the possibilities are endless and she could keep it forever.
Good luck on making her a special one of a kind gift!!

I can not wait til my niece is 13. I think (if her mom wont mind) a great gift would be the "early woman" kit. Include a few pieces of makeup like bluch mascara and lip gloss, her first bra, some panty hose, maybe a curling iron or new hair accessories, stuff like that.

How about a pamper day to make her feel special and a young woman? She will always remember it as a first big step into being a teenager.

I would give her a gift voucher for NEXT - somewhere trendy like that. They`re funny at this age, like to choose their own stuff - and the excitement of going shopping - even if it`s just for one item - she`ll luv ya!!!!

I always make scrap books up for family and friends, with pics from over the years, and bits and bobs that are sentimental to them, and always finish it with writing a wee poem about them...
They love it.....
