i met a widower online with two kids. he was moving from uk to canada but making a trip to nigeria to pick up apparel for a store he is opening here. when he got there he realized they no longer accept the money order for a hotel so he has sought refuge in a church. he was able to buy his order but can't make it out for the last two months because he doesn't have the bta plus his stuff will be auctioned off if he doesn't pay for storage.
i have talked online to his young kids and they are calling me mum and begging me to help him out. should i send the 500 he needs. he promises to pay it back immediate upon arrival...i don't know i feel so guilty about his kids they are in care of a nanny. what do you all think?

I think you are being scammed and there are no kids, someone is just trying to get money out of you. I mean if he had the money to buy the clothes he needed then he had money for a hotel.

DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY!!!!!! This is an internet email scam. There are many versions of this scam being sent out every day. I delete them from my bulk and inbox folders. Most emails originate from the UK or from Nigeria or the Ivory Coast. They have lured you in emotionally. As soon as you send some money, they will invent a new story that requires you sending more. They may even offer to transfer money electronically back to your account. They will ask for your bank account number and then withdraw all your money.

Please, immediately stop this correspondence. They are liars and thieves.

My first impression is to say that it is a SCAM. He can contact young children to get the information to you, but can't contact you himself? I don't think so! Your good nature is being violated - just because you are a kind, good hearted person who would help out a widower she hardly knows and his kids.

Contact the RCMP. They have an entire department devoted to this type of fraud. You may be the link they need to catch these scam artists!

Best wishes!

Hi

He could be telling the truth or is trying to take you for a ride . If you are going to send him the money I would type up a promissory note so that he will be liable to pay you back .

Since it is a online relationship I would feel skeptical because $500.00 is a lot of money to give to someone that you barely know .

Follow your heart and Good Luck

I would not send money. I'm not saying he is scamming you, but there are way too many people out there who are scamming and you just can't be sure.

I'm especially worried, becuase you state he is in Nigeria, thats scam capital of the world.

If you have $500 and really wouldn't miss it, then send it if you want to. Heck, send me $500 too.

Good Luck.

Someone is trying to scam you. And, he is using his kids (if they even are real) to make you feel sorry for him. Don't fall for it.
It's the oldest trick in the book and unfortunately for us honest folk it works sometimes. Don't be a victim. Wise up and realize there are some real cruds on the internet.

Money orders are the same as cash. I've never heard of anyone not accepting money orders. You have to buy the money order to recieve one. If you have not met this person, why are they asking you for money? Doesn't he have other family and friends?

big NO NO... haven't you heard of all the scams? Don't be another victim.. God only knows who he is or what he does. FYI-he probably doesn't have kids, just wants your money!!! once you send him money, he will only want more...Don't get sucked in...And no, it does not seem believeable to me...Sounds like a wild goose chase
