I have flown many times with Ryanair and I honestly have to say they are brilliant.
True there are many horror stories but I don't think they have proportionally more than any other budget/ low-cost airline.
Even with national carriers the service is nothing exceptional.
Despite all the stories of cancelled and delayed flights Ryanair has the highest proportion of flights that arrive on time of any airline in Europe(ober 90%)

Ryanair makes Southwest look like a luxury airline. Too many stories of Ryanair abandoning their passengers when flights cancel or are delayed, surly service, and the fact that they nickel-and-dime you for everything, even checked luggage. I'd rather pay a little more and know that I will get there with next to no hassle.

If you take it, make sure the airport isn't 2 hours away from the city it supposedly serves.

All the answerers above gave you great information about Ryanair. Here is a website that will give you additional information about passengers' feedback on Ryanair.

As you read passenger's comments on Ryanair, you have to be aware of Ryanair changing flight schedule and/or cancelling the flight. Also, you'll have understand their luggage allowance because they charge for the service.

If you are going to Barcelona, Ryanair flies into either Reus airport which is 90km from the city or Girona airport that 100km from Barcelona. So, once you land, you'll have at least another 1.5 hours of traveling before you get to the city.

Here is Ryanair's that should be checked concerning their baggage policy, their in-flight services, etc.

So, as people above mentioned, they just provide basic transportation to/from cities. Also, wikipedia gives additional information about Ryanair.

Enjoy your holiday in Spain.

Ryan Air is sort of a Southwest Airlines of Europe. Nice planes no frills, you pay for drinks/coffee. Very cheap tickets depending on when you buy them. They usually dont fly to the big international airports but they do have good transportation and hotel links when you get to your destination. Fairly new Boeing 737 airplanes too.

Well mainly they leave out of the city airports- which actually is nice as you don't get the large crowds -
The did lose my luggage on my return flight - I did get it about 24 hours later.

The airplanes were nice and flight attendants courteous
Go with them as its saving you money
