Typically 13-20 for normal cars. 10 for small economy cars, 30 for full-size pickups and SUVs. (and you can option a 40-gallon tank on large SUVs.)

Locomotives have between 1000 and 5000 gallon tanks depending on their size and power. (more power takes more fuel, and they need to make it between servicing stops.)

Large airplanes have 5000-10,000 gallon tanks and up. At takeoff, 1/4 of their weight can be fuel! Now you don't feel so bad about that fuel surcharge on your ticket, eh?

It all depends on what kind of car you have. Some of the smallest cars have 9-10 gallons, while many larger cars have over 20. Diesel trucks are a diferent story- up to 50+ gallons.
