What does he smell like? Its a strange question- but it could be a health issue. Most dogs will always have a "doggie odor" about them. You should only bathe him once a month, otherwise if you bathe a dog too frequently, it may cause skin irritation. Dont overdue it on the doggie cologne either. There is a cologne called Crazy Dog Grooming Spray, with three different scents, Baby Powder, Green Apple, and Pina Colada. It works very well, and the smell stays with them for a day. You can find it on http://www.petedge.com

If it is a very bad odor, i would do one of two things. One- take him to the groomer. Have them do a bath there, and see if the odor comes back quickly. If it does, it may be time for a visit to the vet.

Good luck!

Some dogs just smell, but in the case of breeds such as pugs, bacteria, etc. can sometimes build up in the folds of its skin. Make sure that you are fully washing him. Also, if you don't dry him properly, moisture can remain in the aforementioned folds and cause odors, so be sure to dry him well. You may also want to mention this to your vet, to make sure that the cause of the smell isn't an infection

Some breeds / individual dogs just have more of a doggy smellthan others
( Lord I lovemy dog he gets bathed once a year & never smells! )

Try rubbing baking soda into his fur - it may help nutrlize the odor - comb out or vacume if your dog allows it...

Use a dog shampoo that contains baking soda and oatmeal and your dog will smell just delightful afterwards. Warning: don't bath him more than twice a month, though, or it will destroy the natural oils in his coat and he will get skin problems.

Pugs are known to be smelly, because of the rolls in their skin around their necks.Have you tried cleaning his ears sometimes the smell isn't from the body itself but could be coming from the ears and that could possibly mean an ear infection.I recommend you ask your vet if the problem continues.

You could be bathing him too much, which could cause skin problems. He could also already have an underlying problem that may require vet attention. Do you wipe between his wrinkles regularly? sometimes the eyes weep and it sits between the wrinkles and gets stinky. baby wipes do well for that. or wipes designed for dog eyes. It could also be his dog food giving him an odor. i would check with your vet to rule out skin problems though. good luck!

not all dogs are stinky but what kind of shampoo are u using? i use either dandruff shampoo(for the fleas etc too) or a flavored scented suave on my dogs 1-2 times a week. you can also coat them with baby powder. this will make them smell better, help control fleas and ticks, and makes thier coats soft feeling like a very young puppys coat
