How much blood do they generally take?
1 pint
You probably will not feel woozy
In the USA, about 34% of the population has A+ blood. Remember: the more common a blood type is, the more likely someone will need it.
To give blood for transfusion to another person, you must be healthy, be at least 17 years old or 16 years old if allowed by state law, weigh at least 110 pounds, and not have donated blood in the last 8 weeks (56 days). "Healthy" means that you feel well and can perform normal activities. If you have a chronic condition such as diabetes or high blood pressure, "healthy" also means that you are being treated and the condition is under control.
Other aspects of each potential donor's health history are discussed as part of the donation process before any blood is collected. Each donor receives a brief examination during which temperature, pulse, blood pressure and blood count (hemoglobin or hematocrit) are measured.
Making donations for your own use during surgery (autologous blood donation) is considered a medical procedure and the rules for eligibility are less strict than for regular volunteer donations.

You will get free juice and cookies.
You will weigh less — one pint less when you leave than when you came in.
It's easy and convenient — it only takes about an hour and you can make the donation at a donor center, or at one of the many Red Cross mobile blood drives.
It's something you can spare — most people have blood to spare... yet, there is still not enough to go around.
Nobody can ask you to do any heavy lifting as long as you have the bandage on. You can wear it for as long as you like. It's your badge of honor.
You will walk a little taller afterwards — you will feel good about yourself.
You will be helping to ensure that blood is there when you or someone close to you may need it. Most people don't think they'll ever need blood, but many do.
It's something you can do on equal footing with the rich and famous — blood is something money can't buy. Only something one person can give to another.
You will be someone's hero — you may give a newborn, a child, a mother or a father, a brother, or a sister another chance at life. In fact, you may help save up to three lives with just one donation.
It's the right thing to do.

I've been giving blood every eight weeks for years. They take a pint of blood. You can feel woozy afterwards, especially if you haven't been eating well. Get a good breakfast that day and you should be fine. They sit you down afterwards for 15 minutes and give you juice. If you're going to feel woozy, you will by then. If you do, they'll lie you down and help you. It's really not that big a deal. You can't give blood if you're under a certain weight (105 lbs?), are anemic, or have an infectious disease. Check out the Red Cross' website for more info.

They will take one pint. You should not go on an empty stomach. They will give you a snack afterward and a place to rest to make sure you are "ok". I am A+. It is not rare and for that reason they need more of us. You will not be allowed to donate if you have had a tattoo, traveled to Africa, been sick, exposed to anyone who is sick recently, running a fever..there is a list of about 45 or 50 qualifying questions. They will take your temp, blood pressure, check you iron (finger prick with tiny needle). It is not painful ...the whole thing takes about 45 mintues. It does involve the finger prick and of course the needle to draw blood. After it is over here they give us a t-shirt, umbrella, movie tickets, small cooler, etc. Everyone should do it. You can donate every 56 days.

I believe it's one pint max. Will you feel woozy ? Depends on you. I can watch them do it and it does'nt bother me one bit. But my wussy friend would pass out if he did the same thing. Not everyone can donate. If you have any blood related disorders, you can't. Also some health problems can rule a person out. Don't let me scare you away ! Call your local blood bank and ask them when you can come in. In many areas blood is BADLY needed.

They take 1 pint.
You probbaly will feel a little woozy, but they let you rest and drink up on OJ and have cookies to help.
A is pretty common.
A person with tattooes, who uses drugs, who is underweight or who is anemic wouldn't be allowed to donate.
